I've heard a lot of good about Inspiron 5150 and I'm getting one myself.

I purchased a Dell Inspiron 8600 with a 1.7Ghz Pentium M chip last month and I am using it as a second workstation for daily video editing with one of my external hard drives and also for general desktop-replacement use when I travel. It has the WUXGA wide-screen and 512 Mb RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 Pro Turbo video card, a DVD burner and built in wireless connectivity, plus pretty long battery life- (I've gotten over four hours on one charge even with substantial power consuming activity) . After rebates I only paid about $2150.
