I went in for a consultation, the oral surgeon said from looking at my X-ray that I have a "bony cyst" developed in my wisdom teeth and that will need to send it to a pathologist to make sure it's not cancer! I researched on the net, and from what I read the chances of a wisdom teeth cyst is being malignant is VERY small, .07 percent, it's just standard procedure to have it checked.

Anyways, I ended up not getting my wisdom teeth removed, because I didn't have a driver. I couldn't drive myself because they were going to put me under IV sedation, (it's not actual general anaesthesia as I thought). All my close friends work 9-5 and the surgeon's office doesn't open on the weekends, so I'll have to have one of my close friends take half a day off from work to take me.

I told my surgeon that since I didn't have a driver that day, if he could just remove it under local. He said it was NOT a good idea because he told me he needs to remove some bone from my jaw, and it's more complicated since my wisdom teeth has a cyst! He also suggested I remove all 4 of my wisdom teeth, but I declined because I don't want to remove something if it's not bothering me yet.

They wouldn't let me take a taxi there because they claim they need someone responsible for me since I won't be alert. That's what I planned on doing initially but they wouldn't let me because they don't want to be blamed if something happens to me.

I'm still surprised my dentist didn't tell me that I had a cyst in there! I'm going to have that particular wisdom teeth with the cyst pulled soon, and I'm gonna reschedule it soon. I feel a lot more comfortable with getting the procedure since I visited the office and spoke with him, so I'm not as hesitant about getting it done. Also, the anaesthesia is not as heavy as I thought, it's just sedation so there's not much risk involved.

Anyone else have a cyst in their wisdom teeth? From what I've read it's quite commom.

If I was smart enough I would go to dental school. Jeez dentists charge an arm and a leg for everything.

i've had the same drugs they will give you, and like i said before, you won't even remember falling asleep. you do need someone with you for a few hours at least after the proceedure. you won't know which way is up for a while

i had to have bone removed from the roof of my mouth to place into the hole that was created into my sinuses when one of the teeth were pulled....not that i'm trying to scare you or anything lol.
that was the upper jaw obviously.

you can tell i haven't had very good luck with my teeth.


but it is all surviveable. so don't worry about it.....it's just a pain in the ass at the time.
