does the US military fuck up its soldiers?

wierd question, i know. but i have 5 cousins and 3 friends who served in the different branchs of US military and they all range in different ages. they were all cool before they went in to service. some of them saw action, some didnt, but they all act really wierd nowadays.

they dont hold down decent jobs, they have real strange conversations and shit.

whats up with that? is it true what they say that the military puts stuff in their food and vaccinations?

i dont get it

No kidding, everyone I know that was in the military went in pretty cool and came out a total fuckface. One of those people returned to normal, the rest are cocksmoking assholes.

i've talked to a few different people about this, like my friends wives and shit, and on th DL they all told me wierd shit.

for example, they put stuff in the food in order to keep the soldiers labido low, then they also give soldiers vaccinations with bad side affects where these vaccinations dont even have to be FDA approved

I'm an army brat, and I never knew my dad before the army, but I don't think he's weird now. However, I had a friend who joined in the past couple years and he's totally fucking brainwashed.

Well, given the statistics of how many soldiers got hooked on heroin during vietnam you can see SOMETHING happens.

Is it wrong to assume seeing total carnage and living under total discipline would change someone?

they say that they break people down and rebuild them. that is ok in theory, but it is all the drugs that is the problem.

i can understand the brave souls that unfortunately had to see combat, but what i cant understand is the soldiers that never saw action. and i can only base what i've seen on the soldiers from the last decade, because all of my cousins and friends are around my age

Well, I have some family that went in and came out totally fine if not better for it. They're also devout christians so they're probably in denial about alot and use jesus instead of heroin.

I'm sure alot of people go in just for the lack of anything better to do with their life and just can't take the tough training and military lifestyle.

i'm in no way trying to disrespect the soldiers, just to let you know.

my point is, is there a need for all of the chemicals that they put into a soldiers everday life?

also how can the situation of 1 of my friends be explained. he was no where near anything. he was a gas attendent for a few years for the army, and now the guy came home with real bad high blood pressure, he stutters, gained 50 lbs, and doesnt act normal. he himself admits that he ate food with chemical additives.

i just wanna look out for these guys. i feel bad that they all are so different now.

These claims of drug use and stuff is bullshit. 30 years ago, ok sure. Today? no fucking chance

I spent 7 years in the army from 90 - 97 and they drug test like you wouldnt believe. Get caught once, and depending on how good of a soldier you are, they MAY let you stay in, but you'll definately be facing disciplinary action and mandatory counselling. 2nd time, you're getting more disciplinary action and getting kicked out. I've seen guys get courtmartialed and do prison time for a 2nd positive drug test, and then a dishonorable discharge, which is the same as having a felony on your record.

They tell you dont get caught doing drugs, and they fuckin mean it.

Gulf War Syndrome, is a big issue here for ex-soldiers who served in the previous gulf war!! due to vaccinations!!!

They are training people to react without questioning, to carry out orders without thinking. To follow leaders because they have a stripe more on their sleeve.

And to do what?

To go to foriegn lands, see new sights, meet different people and kill them.

If the army did not change people, they would have to be VERY FUCKED UP before they enlisted. Who do you know not in the army who fills in the main requirements?

I give you as an example theking.

It depends. In the air force they give you alot of amphetamines. It's not mandatory, alot of pilots will tell you they give them to you to have just in case. I'm not sure of the statistics of people actually using them but after 1 or 2 times you WILL do them again if given a supply.

There's also DU as far as gulf war vets go, but that's more a health problem than a mental problem.

Yeah and think about it. He's still scared to take drugs. He drinks instead of using pain medication perscribed by his physician. The service may very well conditioned him into thinking it's better to drink yourself into a stupor than take a mild pain med.

i dont get it
No stuff in the food and of course they receive vaccinations...upon entry and even more when deployed to foreign lands...as they should. Any life experience changes a person...sometimes for the better...sometimes for the worse...but in all walks of life...when going through a life experience...if it fucks up a person...it is usually a case of garbabge in...garbage out.

I am not "scared" to take drugs...but it is to early in the game to become addicted to the drugs...as my condition will worsen and there will be a time for that. In addition killing the pain is dangerous...in my case...for my movements can paralyze me...thus I have to suffer a certain amount of pain to let me be aware of my momements. The last I was aware Vicodin and Morphine are not considered to be mild meds. BTW I do not drink myself into a "stupor"...thank you very much.

I was in the AF for 12 years, did my time in Desert Storm with a reconnaissance squadron and NONE of our pilots choose to use the amphetamines that we did have as an option...

if they needed to use it for a long mission or felt the need to 'make it happen' then they'd STILL have to run it by the flight doc first...it's not like that shit is handed out like candy...it's a controlled substance and was treated as such...

drug abuse happens in the military as in any other profession, but not nearly as 'widespread' a problem as alcohol related incidents....

as you well know things are not going so good in the Middle East and you know damn well they are going to start up the Draft again after the elections.

then you will get to see first hand if all this stuff in this thread is true.

From personal experience, yes it does.

Probably more personal that I should get here, but its relevant and important.

1) I'm 38, don't smoke and never had an injury and am otherwise healthy, yet I suffer from chronic blood clots. Almost died twice because of it. Doctors have yet to give me an explanation as to why. There are some reports out linking a high incidence of bloodclotting among military personal to the heavy amount of vaccinations given out. This is something I'm researching heavily.

2) Birth defects among children of people that served during the first gulf war are I believe 3 times higher than the national average. My son is one of the statistics.

3) I'm an asshole.. for the reasons above.

i originally started this thread thinking that there was only a small occurance of things going on, but by reading posts like this it really disturbs me to think that so many people are affected.

Militarily speaking things are going well in Iraq. The attacks against the military are not militarily significant. The attacks do have political significance. There is not any reason to re-instate the draft at this point. If a third front opens up there may be a need to re-instate the draft. Personally...I am of the opinion that the draft should not have been done away with and should be re-instated...for multiple reasons.

This is really sad

As a child of two army parents, a sister reservist, and a shit load of air force, and marine extended family I can barley read this board. I know people arent exactly bad mouthing or whatever, but the basic facts are

1) the army does break you down and rebuild you
2) this deff makes you stronger and more driven
3) combat will change you
4) the stigma of being a solider past or present sucks
5) people that are "civis" dont respect what they have

ps yea I"m out but was in

pps it does chane you usualy for the better its neccesary and the drug shit was and is blown out of proportion , and was all between like 42 and 77 its way over

I think the same this is the most bullshit htread I have seen those that are telling you they stick stuff in their food these days are just coving up the fact that they are assholes

thats bullshit

the rumor that they stick salt peter in thier food to slow down the labido in bootcamp is pure bullshit

the reason soldiers dont have a high labido in bootcampis they just dont have the energy at the end of the day after working harder then they are used to

its just like the guy that works all day and comes home and just wants to go to sleep cause he busted his ass all day

as for being an ass they make you wake up and smell the coffee and not be a lazy fuck anymore most soldiers and sailors learn a lot of values that the average person never learns most people that are in the military have better work ethics then a civilian by ten fold yeah there are the lazy fucks that always stay lazy and they end up with a bad attitude cause they had a bad experience its usually just that they are lazy fucks and dont pull thier own weight
