50 lightspeed trials

cashman 03-25-2004 09:24 PM

If you have affiliates they may not like it, since the conversion will be low.

I think most affiliates are smart enough to realize that conversion ratios aren't as important as per click revenue. But I agree, there is something psycological about saying "1 in 50!" even if its a bunch of low cost trials

I love the concept, gives the surfers more control and they can get a variety instead of just one girl. Great Idea.:thumbsup

Steve! You must have read my thread on Bradshaw's Strictly Biz last week. It is nice to see someone using a similiar idea to the test. Good luck.

SteveLightspeed 03-25-2004 11:38 PM

Since I've never been invited to that forum, I guess we had the same idea around the same time? I've always thought we should operate more like retail, and retail plays lots of pricing games to get customers to buy.

It will be an interesting experiment. Icq me in a few weeks and we can compare notes.

It will ba heaven on Earth if its true.

Good idea to get rid of the trials. However, having multiple charges per month from the same company will increase chargebacks... or will it be one charge to their card each month? Maybe offer a trial upon exit if they do not buy?

I don't think we would show more than one sale, instead just have multiple price points, and let our own software control access to however many sites they bought access to.

BV 03-27-2004 09:48 AM

We have custom software in place that lets affiliates turn off trials if they want. We also have it where they can select the price of the trial and rebill price. Pretty neat stuff that enables our affiliates to promote our sites how they see fit.

BV

"Would you like to super-size that" works on several levels: not wanting to be seen as cheap and a basic reluctance to say no are probably stronger than any perception of extra value.
To that extent, the impersonality of the 'net is going to work against you, so stressing the value and variety is going to be more important.

To work this approach best, I would get the first page of the signup done for the site(s) the surfer is expecting and then offer the "supersize" option on a follow-up page. And keep the message simple: "Add 3 more sites of your choice for just $10!" or whatever... it needs to be simple enough to stay an impulse thing.

Give them all the options you mentioned originally, explanations etc., and you might slow some of them down enough to lose the sale completely.

Well thought out! Thanks for your comments. :thumbsup

it already work well in other programs (eg.socalcash). About 55/65 percent of trials used to rebill from my traffic

BV 03-27-2004 11:53 AM

Logically thinking, having a huge archive of content available right off the bat AND updating every day will make you look better and more likely to please (rebill) your customer. IMO

Cheers,
BV
