Giorgio_Xo 03-22-2004 11:58 PM

Ok... so Penthouse owns iBill, Hustler controls Jettis...

That leaves Playboy buying ??? Epoch?

That leaves CCBill for everyone else.

I think Lensman gave Penthouse the $700k in order to have the story break on GFY. :glugglug

At least Penthouse isn't likely to make Ibill mainstream only and stop accepting adult transactions. That was my biggest worry about the new owner.

Now we just have to worry about how stable they are and if they have the resources to run Ibill like it should be.

I didn't think about that...

Then again, I don't use either, so I don't really need to think about that :winkwink:

I wasn't comparing their operations. I was simply stating that I find it interesting that these large processors have relations with large porn mags.

Living For Today 03-23-2004 12:46 AM

maybe ibill will be seen as a better solution now.

alan-l 03-23-2004 12:55 AM

be ready for some big movement this year. The times for amateurs and lil boys are coming to an end, this doesn't end with Hustler and Penthouse, nor doesn't ends here :glugglug

Maybe they didn't want $20,000,000 in extra debt?

Axeman 03-23-2004 01:05 AM

I just hope they get more stable and focus on the needs of the adult web more that they got sold.

it will be very interesting to see what happens in the next couple of months. definitely a plus, is that adult is not going anywhere over at iBill with this sale. it's the rest of the equation that's uncertain...

Very true.

We can all speculate, but what we know is that an Adult orientated company has taken over a CC processor. Whether they can try to force out others to cut down competition, run it properly, use the client info as a spam list, etc. is all guess work. The future will tell us, but it might be good to spread your processors.

Same here, still fighting that audit. Although I'm sure you have it worst because you actually run a paysite. I can't believe they're still hastling me to collect GST from US based sponsors.

ibill...no thanks..

Dravyk 03-23-2004 04:36 AM

Let's see folded a once major magazine, while Hustler and Playboy are flourishimg in video, cable, stores and the Net.

Tried twice (or was it three times? twice for certain) to create a successful affiliate program and couldn't.

Oh yeah, this is a good sale! ... All they need now is to hire former GloBill exces for finance, Crescent to handle traffic counts, and Steve Goldman to head up webmaster relations! :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

Imagine Netbilling doing full 3rd party ?

at lower rates..

scoreman 03-23-2004 09:24 AM

iBill officially loves porn again.

Just to clarify for some of the posters on this thread, Penthouse International bought iBill, not General Media. General Media is the bankrupt portion of Penthouse that is struggling. PH Int'l has significant financial backing. There is separation between the companies as well as the new created LLC that iBill occupies. Future financial problems with General Media will not allow creditors to come knocking on either the LLC or PH Int'l for satisfaction of any debts.

From what I have been told John Perry and his cronies got the boot before the ink even dried on the contracts. Maybe we should start a donation thread for him, I'm sure his Paypal would just overheat with sympathetic pledges from this audience.

Penthouse now has the contact information and legal right to contact:

* Paysite owners
* Your Affiliates / Webmasters
* Millions of subscribers

....From the ex-#1 adult billing processor in the world.

One way or another, I think they are about to give Playboy & Hustler a real run for their money.

The question is are they really doing this to be in the processing game?
And if so... are they going to be aggressive about building up market share?

scoreman 03-23-2004 09:44 AM

The day that Penthouse contacts our members through the subscription lists is the day we take our business elsewhere. iBill understands this and they also know that we (and just about every program doing volume) seed our lists on a regular basis to keep informed as to who has our lists. They would be fools to let PH Internet mine the iBill databases. I'm not saying it wont happen, just that the management at iBill is well aware of the fallout of such a thing happening.

cool1 03-23-2004 09:47 AM

It all sounds very interesting
I wonder where it will all lead.
