I enjoyed it.........it was a character study and nothing more......so for some, they may find it meandering and boring, but I really liked it. Murray and Johansson were great.

I spent two years in Japan, and the movie definitely reminded me of my first 3 days in the country; I was suffering from insomnia, the evil reverse jet lag that many people get. I think I laughed a lot more than most people in the theatre.

envision a lethargic version of Bill Murray's "Meatballs", set in Japan. the movie was a visual extravaganza of sight and sound accentuated by banal conversation...script and cinematography mutually indignant and exclusive. good if you want to blow a few hours on psuedo-intellectual introspective pulp.

i've watched it thrice so far and i feel more clever and detached with each viewing.

It was one of my favorite movies of the past few years, and I watch a LOT of movies.

A lot of people are turned off by not knowing what is whispered at the end of the movie, but I think it only adds to the story.
If you need simple storylines where everything is spelled out for you then go watch Joe Dirt

Didn't really catch the plot during the whole movies, but the characters were great ... Bill Murray was brilliant. I can see how he got the Oscar nomination.

Two up!

I haven't seen it yet but really want to. My sister just watched it and said it sucks ass but I still want to see it for myself. Previews looked quite good and a lot of other people seem to enjoy it.

I understood the movie......

Many people relate to a platonic relationship....like I could fuck you but I am not going to....I like you ...but ...whatever...it is those nights that you are so drunk that you start to talk to some bitch whose is not that good looking but both of you have something to say...some underlying shit that floats to the surface...

It sucked! I watched the whole thing thinking this movie has got to get better, but it never did. It was boring and drawn out and just plain sucky. The best part of the whole thing was when they went to the strip club, and that wasn't all that great!
