I do the same thing Shemp does.

50 porn surfing teenage boys...

HS-Trixxxia 03-22-2004 02:25 AM

Shemp, it's the second time this week he's brought on attention to your site with his criticism of other sites just like yours. Do you see it as a positive advertising or negative? Have you seen an increase in figures from this type of publicity?

Strife 03-22-2004 02:26 AM

what a fucking hypocrite :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

Gunni 03-22-2004 02:28 AM

The internet shouldn't be accesible to minors with out guidance!
There are programs parents can use to prevent their children seeing porn and they should use them. If I had a kid I'd never let him loose on the net with out supervision :2 cents:

True I remember that - although I wasn't around much to read what was being said - I just got the final breathes of it :)

Dildozer 03-22-2004 10:16 AM

Thanks Shemp, I appreciate you letting me express myself.

He's a true businessman unlike most of you sheep.

So what solutions do you propose to prevent underage kids from seeing content?

Credit card aren't perfect i agree but it's still a potent way to prevent at least part of them.

CC companies could have a special number for credit cards assigned to minors, like basic Mastercards always start with 5258 (at least in canada) so maybe for minors could start with a specific number like 5257 or whatever.

Still most of you TGPers aren't doing much to prevent kids from viewing all that graphic porn. tsk tsk

I'm off to the funeral home to pay tribute to a real businessman, i'll bump this thread to infuriate you even more when i get back

It's not my job to babysit your kids and it shouldn't be the governments either. My only plan is don't target kids/minors.

hey, at least there aren't all those blind links, like on my sites!

Nor am I preventing them from smoking pot, or getting drunk. I'm also not making sure they get to school on time, or have a lunch packed.

Sorry, but the Internet isn't some safe, happy land where the birds chirp, the sun is always shining, and the clouds are few and look like pillows. No, the Internet in many ways is the anus of humanity, with all the porn, gore, hatred, illegal software downloads, tips on how to make bombs, etc etc etc. It is NOT child friendly and never will, nor should be.

Herb Kornfield 03-22-2004 11:15 AM

Its the parents job to watch their kids and their activities at the end of the day.

Plopping a kid down with an open internet connection opens them to the world of the net.

You can stop the kid with every parental control out there, that dont mean that johnny or suzie isnt going to get a hardcore DVD from their friends at school one day and pop it in the C drive at the house.

Tell the kids under 18 to go outside and play if you are that concerned about their welfare.

Huggles 03-22-2004 11:16 AM

Dildozer is probably the type of person that would allow their kid to have a computer in their own room, with a lock on the door. :1orglaugh

I think that parents need to take responsibilty for thier own children.

Sure, but did you convert well with it? Thats the real question.

Dildozer 03-22-2004 11:24 AM

So basically you people just blame it on the parents.

How convenient when you show hardcore porn without any restrictions :1orglaugh

And all you crybabies going "look at your sig" or "I'm telling Shemp" :1orglaugh

Asslicking your way to success isn't gonna work.

LOL

Say baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Cory W 03-22-2004 11:30 AM

If you have the proper meta tags, title tags, body text and use an "adult" domain name (all of which describes accurately the content of your site) then I think you are taking the appropriate and practical precautions.

Parents have all the tools to prevent minors from viewing adult content. If they they are unable to do it, then they should not have the Internet.

Do you see kids playing kick ball on the freeway? You don't because parents do not allow them to play there. And the goverment / society would deem this activity as liable on the parents side if anything were to happen. Inherently, parents are responsible for where their kids play (this includes the Internet).

I've tried the video / website comparison since we have both.

A kid "could" just run through the door and see tits and ass everywhere, but once noticed and caught he would be escorted out.

I believe its up to the store owner and site owner to take "reasonable" precautions to keep minors away.

I take nothing away from you having the right to express yourself. With that being said, if you took money for Shemp's sig, then you are directly profiting from a tgp. So in many ways, you you should propose a solution as well.

I would love to hear what your ideas on this would be. I have ran / run mgps / tgps.

HS-Trixxxia 03-22-2004 12:08 PM

First, I think anyone under the age of 18 shouldn't have a credit card that they can use online.
Second, I know teenagers are curious and it's very normal that they are.
Third, as a parent, my son knows what he can surf and what he can't - when he surfs the net, his door is open and the screen is facing the door. My son has always been able to ask me anything about sex. When he surfs and finds sites that are misleading - he tells me about it (cuz he knows I check his history-and I know if he clicked further into the site). I will either write to the webmaster of the site in question & if it's meant to lure kids to the site, then I'll report it to search engines - or trace back how he got there in the first place and report it to linking sites.

As for blocking kids - I'd say create a TLD that is childsafe - copy the safe sites or 'socially approved sites' for family viewing to that TLD and don't allow hyperlinks to move past that TLD. Any link to something other than .kidsafeTLD will bring you to a 404 page.
This of course would be an international community responsability which means that all search engines results/advertisers/have to be 'child/family safe' - the browsers should have an age group monitor that will give access based on the users age group even within the .kidsafeTLD. Parents would then have to set up their computers with usernames and passwords for their older children and by default the computers open up on the childsafe ones - so younger children can get online with less things to remember.

Ok so whoever does this -remember me when you make all your millions - and if you want more details of how I think it should work, hit me up on ICQ. :)

Slick 03-22-2004 12:41 PM

ROFL, this is kinda funny because about 3 weeks ago I had the same discussion from one of my old co-workers that thinks that what I do is morally wrong.

The thing is that it's the PARENT'S responsibility to monitor what their kids do. The internet isn't a babysitter. My 12 year old son keeps bugging me to set the internet up on our second computer upstairs, I won't do it because of the fact that I don't want him looking for porn. He's only allowed on the internet on the computer downstairs when we're home, otherwise the case is locked up when we're not around. It's as simple as that.

For the parents that want their kids to have the internet on computers in their room, they take chances that they're gonna get into porn. Sure they can put up the cyber sitting programs on their computer which does block most nasty stuff and if they're REALLY that concerned, then they should secretly install one of those programs that makes a log of everything that they type and it also takes screenshots every so often, that way you'll know if they're trying to get into porn and can take action there. I think that between those 2 methods, it'd be totally full proof that they could get away with looking at porn without you knowing about it.

RockDaddy 03-22-2004 12:47 PM

Parents, don't let your kids play in the Information Super Highway then get upset when the Bang Bus runs them over!!

ROFL, ha ha ha, that's soooooo true :)

Napolean 03-22-2004 12:53 PM

has Dildozer told anyone how HE prevents minors from accessing his sites??

unless you have some magical way of preventing kids from getting to your sites, your giving everyone shit over an issue your just as guilty on.

the only good ways I can think of are those age verification scripts that use list menus or where you type in your birth date..

if the kid lies and puts an incorrect date.. he has committed perjury sorta, same thing as using a fake id to buy cigerettes or alcohol.

which kinda brings me to a good idea, even if it isnt possible.
but if there would be a way to plug in to the DMV Records and have a user fill out their license # to verify their age.. should be almost fullproof unless the kid steals his parents driver license.

but, I dont see this being a possibility any time soon

How can you blame us?

Porn doesn't find it's way onto a minor's computer, minors find it. How do they do this? Unrestricted access to a computer in private.

Tofu 03-22-2004 01:03 PM

Parents are responsible to a certain point. I know when I was young, I had access to all sorts of pornography! You could either wait outside of the liquor store for a nice guy to buy the shit for you, you could find it in any bush near the school, or SOMEONE had an older brother with an endless porn collection that he would happily share with his lil' brother.

:2 cents:

Za Ha 03-22-2004 01:09 PM

Thats a stupid argument. ENough said.

HS-Trixxxia 03-22-2004 01:11 PM

One of my concerns as a parent is if you keep shielding them from it, it will only make them more curious/determined to go startup their own 'projects'.

As for Napolean, regarding:
which kinda brings me to a good idea, even if it isnt possible.
but if there would be a way to plug in to the DMV Records and have a user fill out their license # to verify their age.. should be almost fullproof unless the kid steals his parents driver license.

I'm not sure the population would like all this information about them is travelling and readily available on the internet with all the identity fraud going on.

Dildozer 03-22-2004 09:44 PM

Good points, but still i'm having a hard time believing there aren't better ways to prevent kids from viewing all your readily available pornography.

Think about it as being a video store where the adult section is wide open.

Then again not all TGP's are created equal. At lest some put a certain effort, which is far from the majority.

Oh by the way BREAKING NEWS:

I know what's in my sig and you should look up Shemp's reply in this thread.

I was jerking to TGP's when I was like 15 and 16 years old. The fact that 90% of a TGP's visitors are kids is just the way it is. If its free, and it's porn, kids will find it. They're usually better at this stuff than the 40 year old AOL user anyway.

Could all this be part of the price we pay for a free society? Who among us didn?t see porn, before we were of age?

There are so many tools available to limit access to porn, one really does have to lay responsibility on the parents and schools.

You turn on the nightly news and see blood splattered all over the place from a missile blowing someone apart. Which is worse, the violence or the sex? Which will have a greater impact on an individual and society? So someone sees a tit on the Super Bowl! We have young people being set home in body bags every day. Which is worse? These comments are from a life long Republican.

It seems to me, that many have their head up their ass on what is really important.
