Sweet! HD space just continues to get more discounted. Did you see the new 400GB hard drives coming out?

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...monster_disk_3

Digital media hogs can celebrate. A new, whopping 400-gigabyte hard drive from Hitachi Global Storage Technologies can store up to 400 hours of standard television programming, 45 hours of high-definition programming or more than 6,500 hours of digital music

That's AMP's tower. Mine are all in Mobile Racks so I can lock them in the vault when I am out of town.

For those of you not quite bright enough, he's obviously not running them all at the same time but swapping them out when needed.

I'm guessing the cost per GB on the 200's are a lot less than the cost per GB on the 300's!

It makes sense if you count in binary.

Exactly. I bought two 160gb SATA drives because they were the lowest cost per gig drive on the market.

something to do with the binary system. 8 bits in a byte... example 10101110 is a byte. so 128 bit *8 is 1024 and its just a multiple of that.

Actually, I'll admit I didn't scroll past the first post so I didn't even see how you had them setup in the pics. My bad.

I understand the cost per gig is alot higher, but i've not had alot of luck with cases/power supplies running that many drives and the heat they put off.

If I went for price, my 160gig was priced best I think it was like $129 with a $50 rebate. Maxtor 8mb cache.
