Bertuzzi Verdict , what do you thimnk

He has been suspended for rest of year including playoffs.. BIG DEAL Kid is sitting in hospital with a broken neck.

I think he should have been made example of and banned for life. But thats me. He did a cowardly and criminal act.

Its not quite like that. THe league this time (see Beekaboom incident) was smart enough to leave the suspension open ended. It means Bertuzzi has to reaply to the league next season, he will not automatically be reinstated.

This leave an open door for the league if Moore's condition gets worse.

I think the NHL got it right this time.

Who do you think returns to NHL action first? Bertuzzi or Moore?

IT IS A BIG DEAL!!!!! This is hockey not boxing! Sure a bit of fighting here and there spices up the game, but Moore could of died!

he deserved what he got and i wouldn't have felt bad for him if they tacked on another year. Lifetime banishment? If the kid makes a full recovery i wouldn't ban him for life but if the kid loses his career i don't think Bertuzzi should have one either in the NHL.

I think his suspension is appropriate... that he may still get more punishment...

but a mistake is a mistake. He was holding on to the back of Moore's shirt, and pulled down by momentum. He didn't go out there with the intention to break a neck.

It's his fault, but still, a mistake is a mistake.

Sorry but cheap shots happen ALL THE TIME in hockey. Crosschecking ,hitting from behind, not to mention fighting. It's only when someone gets seriously hurt that people get pissed?? HA morons. Bertuzzi Im sure did not mean to break the guys neck, It was a freak thing, he's getting suspended rightfully, and that should be the end of it. You play hockey you risk getting seriously hurt. There are a ton of instances where cheap shots could seriously hurt players in hockey. Most just result in penalties, this one was just happen to go horribly bad. Best of luck for speed recovery.

I think its far to harsh. Moore acted tough until it came time to answer the bell and he became a pussy.

Bert still shouldnt have drove him into the ice and should have been suspended for 15 games max.

Its only because the US media got their panties in a twist and Bettman cant stand negative US press.

There is no place for 'cheap shots' in any sport. It is a violent crime in our society that should be punished. You are the idiot thinking crime is acceptable. If they want to box, go to a boxing ring.

Since when does the NHL rules supersede the Criminal Code in our society? I'm sorry, but you sport fans need to accept the fact that he broke the law and that the law is much more important than a child's game.

Do you advocate stopping all boxing, mixed martial arts events, football and rugby as well? People get injured in these sports all the time.

Agressiveness is fine, but even those sports have rules and each act is consensual. Skating up covertly and punching someone in the neck isn't.

I think he got off pretty easy and should be thankful for the suspension. He may not even be back, and has to ask permission from Bettman to get reinstated. And that is going to depend on Moores condition.
I found it funny, and insulting when he was crying like a school girl last night. He stated 'I never intened to hurt you' Well what was your fucking intention then? thats the question ide love to hear the answer to.
I don't think he will ever be the same again, after all he is human and the emotional toll is going to be huge.

He is on steroids and has roid rage BTW

When those players put on their uniform, they accept that they may get injured, may get in a fight or may take a cheap shot. There are rules against cheap shots, but they happen in every single game.

Anyways, my point is that the punch was not a criminal act, it was something that happens very often in hockey and thus it's an accepted part of the hockey game. So when the players suit up, they are accepting the potential for a fight.

Was it a criminal act - imo, no.

Is shit like that good for hockey - imo, no.

I'd love to see a MUCH cleaner game but its not going to happen until we get more consistent and better quality ref'ing.

It is a criminal act. Just because it happens often doesn't legalize it. That would make murder legal... that happens alot.

Oh man, why am I wasting my time...

You obviously didnt watch the game or the fight. You probably just saw a highlight or some shit.

Those two were bumping all the way up the ice. Bumping initiated by Moore. When Bertuzzi said fuck it lets go, Moore turned away and took the punch in the side of the head. Moore deserved to have his ass handed to him by Bertuzzi in a fair fight (do you follow hockey? Did you see the hit by Moore on Naslund <one of the leagues top scorers> that should have resulted in a suspension, but instead resulted in Naslund suffering a concussion) , he didnt deserve 2 fractured vertebrae.

Bertuzzi is a retard for throwing a punch at a guy skating away. And he deserves his huge suspension and re-application to get in the league. But criminal charges? Please, its not like he jumped off his bench and charged the guy swinging his stick and trying to kill him.

What is a criminal act? Hitting the guy? Please.

Some of the greatest "hero's" in hockey are "hero's" because they hit people all the time.

Fighting is a part of hockey. Its not a criminal act.

Is it a criminal act when someone gets injured in a shitty play in football? No. So why the hell is it in hockey?

And just for fun, sodomy and other enjoyable sexual acts arent allowed in many parts of the world. Even tho it happens a lot (a lot being two words, not one), between consenting adults and harms no one....

sad thing is there wasnt much of a fight.

Bertuzzi swung at Moore while Moore was skating away. Moore was unconscious from the punch and fell to the ice face first. Bertuzzi was holding onto Moore's jersey and looked off balance from the punch and went down on top of Moore. Then two colorado players dogpiled Moore and Bertuzzi and sent the whole pile sliding across the ice 20 feet or so.

Moore suffered two fractured vertebrae and had some serious stitches - from hitting the ice.

The tape of this hit was sent to the league's office. No suspension because it was a clean hit.

un-fucking-believable.

How many people want to pay to see goons running around on ice taking out franchise players. It just so happens that Bertuzzi and Iggy and a few other franchise players can do some damage.

Ask those ticket holders who they came to see ... I bet nobody says Moore. This fucker hit the top player in league and you can say clean hit or whatever.... But it has to be dealt with. Nobody hit gretzky cause they knew the pain would come.

This suspension is bullshit... I think Moore's situation is Karma for Naslund.

I wonder how many franchise players gave Big-E a concussion. I know of 1...

This is fucking pussy bullshit. You soft hahahahas should look to Iraq and see the body bag express over the atlantic... Leave our good game alone. Throw Bush out for 4 years.

Soon it'll be like figure skating with a stick...

On this press conference Bertuzzi looked scared the fuck out about all this shit that let down on him from every direction after that cheap shot. Hes just a human that once again failed to think before doing something. This time it cost him a lot. Now he scared and crying in front of camera.
Its a life, dude!

His neck isn't broken, that was the media blowing out of proportion, he is playing tomorrow night.

what happened to moore was awful but the NHL dealt with it properly. As far as criminal actions are concerned, I don't know. I saw the incident and I'm sure that having 3 o4 players jump and land on top of him wasn't any help where his neck is concerned

Well, Im extremely indifferent to both Canucks and Avs, but it wasnt nearly a clean hit. The guy, Moore, well obviously went flying into Naslund as he was breaking in the neutral zone, and caught his had with his elbow. That elbow could hit vulnerable spot if his head and now we could have talking about Naslund in the hospital with a serious head injury...

Where's the Hockey I grew up watching.

Damn the good old hockey days is gone and US dollar and American power as changed our National Sport not for better but for worst.

I am from Quebec, started playing hockey I was 4. Played till midget AA and was playing AAA as a reserve goalie.

My grandfather use to play pro in the early 50's as a goalie as well.

In the 70's and 80's hockey was great... T'was a real physical sport where players did not wear the gear they are wearing now... Looks like they have suit of armor now and players where REAL Hockey players... Even the big fighters knew how to play hockey.

Now, well I think Tyson would have a chance 'cause of his fighting skills.

I don't condemn fighting at all ... I did my share of pushing around when I was playing but what I don't like is now Hockey is more focus on Marketing, BIG SALARIES and the game is not a game anymore it's a show.

Fuck back in the days going to see a hockey game was affordable to fans... Now with the ridiculous salaries, if you are not in the High Income level, well I sure hope you have cable because that is where you will watch the Hockey Show.

Moore's injuries weren't directly caused by the punch. Him hitting the ice with Betuzzi on his back and than a bunch of players piling on top of them didn't help the situation. If it had just been the punch and nothing else, Moore mostly likely would have just suffered a concussion and a few cuts from landing on the ice...pretty much the same thing that Nasland suffer from the borderline hit from Moore.

I think the penalty fit the crime

Im sorry , all you guys can say you play , I play , my father plays.. There is no place in sports for what he did. He could have killed him. If he was a man he would have turned him around, dropped the gloves and gave him a chance to defend himself. I know they were getting back at what he did to Naslund, but i saw that tape in slow mo and wasnt nearly nothing compared to what Bertuzzi did.
