Anyone here with a lot of $$ considered producing a mainstream feature film?

Title says it all..

Does anybody here with a lot of cash flow ever thought about investing your money in a MAINSTRAM independant full length feature film?

Pretty much having full producing rights, etc...
I know some of you guys have the cash flowing in, so if you have faith in a good script and invest some money into it, you can profit a lot.

you'd be better off investing in a race horse than a mainstream movie - an alternative tho would be putting all your money in a garbage bag and lighting it on fire.

only people who should invest money in a movie are people who can afford to indulge themselves or people who have a passion for the project and are willing to sacrifice alot to get it made and seen.

Films are notoriously horrible investments for investors and wonderfully profitable for the producers.

I've thought about it, but I really don't have enough contacts in this industry yet and know nothing about making a mainstream video. So right now it would be too risky.

You invest...I'll produce.

I will have my attorney send you the contract tomorrow. Just put a checkmark in the big box that says "YES!", sign it, and mail it back.

Along with the signed check with the amount not filled in?

Anymore any movie has a chance of getting greenlighted. I mean they made the Country Bears didn't they?

Any reasonable well made movie that comes in under ~20 million dollars has a reasonably good chance of making a profit if it can get distributed. Just having people show up to the theater to find out how bad it is will get it to the break even point.

Of course if you are really good, and a total whore, you can sell promotional spots long before the movie is ever released to make sure it makes money. The Cat in the Hat almost didn't have to make any money at the box office to show a profit, thanks to its pre-release whoring.

That's it! I will start selling my sig spot to motion picture studios!

Remind me to cut you in a fat percentage for this revolutionary idea!

Thanx bro!
