I can still watch almost any Jim Carey movie and crack up (Ace Ventura and Dumb an Dumber kill me!!!)

I love Leslie Nelson as well! In my opinion, he is one of pioneers of slap stick comedy!

It is a classic! I've yet to watch the sequel just because I know it's going to suck. From what I heard, it doesn't even come close.

I love goofy humor!

Don't bother - It's terrible! I couldn't even sit through the entire movie! I am glad that I only rented it!

i really don't think i can pin it down to one person..

some people can make u laugh with just a look they give or a short one liner right off the bat.. and others take time to set it up and really hit you hard when they nail it.. and then others choose topics that don't seem funny at first but get laughs because of the riduculous truths hidden just under the surface..

makes me realise just how big comedy is.. I 'll have to think about it some more or make a top 5 list..

I'll tell you a fucked up story -

Couple years ago I'm all set to go to see George Carlin live. It's a good day and my buddies and I are driving through town. BAM. A woman on a bicycle shoots out from a side street and I nail her head on doing 35mph. Keep in mind I was driving a 5.0 liter F-150.

I'm pretty broken up about this. She ended up being fine, but at the time she hit the ground and didn't move. On top of that, seconds after the hit, I mean seconds, some guy comes up pretending to be a friendly face, but instead pick pockets me. I lost $3000 (cash, checks, & credit) and my license so I got a ticket when the cops came.

Anyway, I get through the ordeal and I'm not in any mood to see comedy that night. But we already paid for the tickets so I figured I might as well go. The very first bit Carlin starts talking about is running over people in traffic accidents and how you should leave the scene of the crime "...because they got enough going on without you getting in the way. I mean come on! They just got hit by a car!!".

It's hilarious in retrospect, but I thought I was going to die when he was talking about it.

Oh yeah, i forgot about Chapelle. His show is hands down the funniest work on television right now. That episode that feature the white family named Niggar was unreal. And the race draft was crazy shit. Awesome show.

Actually, Leslie Nielsen was a serious dramatic actor until he did Airplane, he's just done so many slapstick roles since then that it seems like he's been doing it forever. He's hilarious, he should have switched to comedy 30 years before he did

Carlin is my favorite, seen him twice live. Somebody mentioned Gallagher, one of the best live acts around. Sure he smashes stuff, but the guy is clever to the max and some of the gadgets he creates are sheer genius. Somebody also mentioned Bill Hicks; greatest comedian I'll never get to see

Phyllis Diller and Joan Rivers are also a riot live. Both times I saw Joan she was double-billing with Don Rickles, perfect match up.
Standup comedy is my thing. I've been to see more comedians than music concerts.
