Actually, Leslie Nielsen was a serious dramatic actor until he did Airplane, he's just done so many slapstick roles since then that it seems like he's been doing it forever. He's hilarious, he should have switched to comedy 30 years before he did:)

Carlin is my favorite, seen him twice live. Somebody mentioned Gallagher, one of the best live acts around. Sure he smashes stuff, but the guy is clever to the max and some of the gadgets he creates are sheer genius. Somebody also mentioned Bill Hicks; greatest comedian I'll never get to see:(

Phyllis Diller and Joan Rivers are also a riot live. Both times I saw Joan she was double-billing with Don Rickles, perfect match up.
Standup comedy is my thing. I've been to see more comedians than music concerts.

Billy Connolly is another favorite of mine.
