Weird Photoshop problem

Since a few weeks ago, I lost my blue:

As you can see, it displays as green. This is ONLY in Photoshop. If I switch to Image Ready it's fine, viewed with any other program it's fine. I can remedy it to an extent by checking "View", "Proof Setup", "Monitor RGB", at least then I see the colors on the pic more or less the way they need to be, but of course that doesn't affect the color picker.

My Color Setup under the Edit menu are all fine (checked them against the settings on my other machines)

I re-installed PS, same thing. Then I uninstalled PS, rebooted and re-installed again, still no change.

Any ideas? It's a bitch to have to work like this.

This is 7.
I also have 6 installed, and the same thing has happened there as well.

did this happen to 6 and then you upgraded to 7
or did it happen to both at the same time?
Are both versions on your PC? try unistalling 6 first.
have you reinstalled 7?

What mode is the image? indexed color or is it in all file types?

sorry for 100 questions but it helps to narow it down

No, I installed 7 side by side with 6 about a year ago. I have some plugins installed in 6 that I've lost the oriiginals to, so if I want to use them I still use 6. (which is also why I'm reluctant to uninstall 6) The problem only suddenly occurred about a week ago, and I have no idea what caused it...just suddenly noticed that skin tones looked muddy.

I reinstalled 7 twice, yes.

This occors in all file types.

try hitting the side of your monitor with a flat open palm. You may have to do it 2 or 3 times.

If that were the problem my colors would be fucked in every program, not just Photoshop. My monitor is fine.

Plain old RGB, 8 bits per channel.

Try to reinstall Photoshop:

1. Reinstall over current bugged-photoshop.
2. Uninstall bugged-photoshop, delete all its dirs, than install it again.

Do you have two programs trying to do your monitor gamma correction, by any chance?

If so, remove the non-adobe one.

If not, uninstall adobe gamma. Check out the situation, and then re-install.

I'll check back throughout the day.

We'll get you going again.

just a thought...uninstalling a program doesn't get rid of shared files....this must have something to do with another program that is using the same files....so when you reinstall, the same problem occurs.

That was it, thanks a lot
Now I know what caused it as well....I'd run Windows Update and it installed a new driver for my monitor...just saw now that I had two color management profiles for the monitor.
Thanks again!
