Sig Marketing - The Evolution Of The Web Marketer

It's just a sign that our industry has evolved into a new type of marketer.

In the past we had front men. They'd take the glory and do deals behind closed doors and at the conventions. Like a sales rep for a business.

These days company's realize that sales reps usually get canned after a few months once they tap out of their contact list. Making cold calls was a weakness of the Internet marketer of the past.

Now that the chat board community grew as did the total number of webmasters fighting to get a bone, paying for chat board reps get better returns then hiring a sales rep. Sites sell themselves if you can get them to click the link. Look at how many webmasters are using boards these days to get their news. News related adult webmaster sites can't keep up with the pace of the chat board breaking the news.

So hats off to people like Lars and ARS for recognizing a market place that's hot. And big props to Lensman for providing the sig whores and the sponsors another way to do business.

The nice part for people like Sleazydream is that it's just extra money. Bigger players being endorsed, like an sports star or actor.

I do believe there are down sides of sig marketing. The paying on number of posts is a little silly, only when the posting sig whore lessens the value of the dialog with fluff. Makes it kind of old and boring.

Everything considered, it's just the new generation of webmaster marketing. Perception is reality. Most people believe what they read on the boards. So planting the sig whore to inject views and thoughts, stirring up controversy just to sign up more webmasters is here to stay for a while. Get used to it.

Don't player hate them for it, you made them popular and you created their value.

How much for the brain?

I have 5 blunts, 3 lap dances at a strip joint and 10 drinks.

Will that do?

Usually works at the shows.

Yeah if I were the owner of this board shelling out a bunch of cash each month for some sigs...I would want them to be viewed.

I use to enjoy looking at sigs and see what everyone promotes. Then all the sig idiots started exploiting sigs that caused all types of problems like add to ignore list, pop tons of consoles, etc....

That made me turn sigs off.

Hugs,
Danielle

Sigs definitely enhance the board. I'm always curious to see who people are "in bed with".

I also believe that this board has a few idiots whoring their chatboard billboards around with stupid posts just to get views or clicks. Some don't actually have the views they express. They see it as a way to become the next BradShaw. It worked for Brad and it will work for the next guy. I think this board will continue to tolerate it as long as the overall numbers are going up. Once the numbers go down and people swtich to other boards complaining of these haters using racisit views and words, they'll moderate it better. But until then, it's the wild west, get used to it.

Personally, I post when I have something to say or respond to. Most people are like me in that respect. I just turned on my reseller sig for XPays and have noticed a bunch of GFY'ers signed up including Lars! Thanks bro, love that you signed under me. Real pimps stay together.

And for those thinking about signing up under my sig, if you send some traffic, I will take care of you with future Players Balls. I'll keep charging money and they'll be hard to get into. So if you have traffic and can find a way to do biz with me, I always hook up the ones that hook me up back.

So in this sense, sigs can make a chat community closer.

I had 2 majors in college, Philosophy and Communications.

It was Ohio State, so drinking and partying was my 3rd major.

Werd.

And for some, having too high of a post count gives the impression to "some" of the bigger players that they're so non player.

If you're looking to impress the masses on a chat board, it has value and is greatly respected. For some bigger players reading the boards, they think of them as bottom feeders.

Even a big player needs a bottom feeder to promote their stuff.

I will say this tho' D-Money it is at a point where in most cases *not all* you are just not going to get any kind of response unless it's a fucked up post.

What sells on this board?

The same thing that sells on t.v., in the theaters....drama...sex...and violence.

I just wonder when will it start affecting these sponsors adversley to be tied to certain individuals.

Sure drama is good, page views are good but some of this drama I would not want to be associated with even if it's all pretend, and something done in good humor.

Too many people read a thread once leave it never to go back to find out it's all a joke.

I fully agree with D-Money.

I personally like seeing what people are flying in there sig. It helps you kinda figure out what kind of person the poster is.

If the poster is someone respected like sleazy dream then I'll check out his sig thinking the sponsor must be good if sleazy is endorsing them.

If the sig is just some ARS banner for there impression program then it gives away that the Poster is probably a small time tgp webmaster. I'm not going to take anything this person says all that seriously untill they accomplish something a make a name for themselves.

Overal from the Sponsors point of view sigs do create brand awareness regardless in which sig model they're flown.

Making money is making money period. When the day comes that you need to try out a webcam program, regardless of how "spamed" the board is with Lars sigs and how much it may annoy u... you're still gonna give him a try to see what the fuss is about and because he's the webcam sponsor you've most heard about.

And when most of you decide on trying a new sponsor do you click a sig or banner somewhere or do you "type in" the program name do to it's brand awareness? I think faaaar more people join programs from type-ins rather than webmaster refferal links, even though that's where they first say the program mentioned.
