Thumbnails --> Photoshop guru's help me
ok I'm very confused since a couple of days of how to create a good thumbnail. Yes I know how to create a quality thumb with a file size of 10k, but I want thumbs with the lowest file size as possible. (around 2.3k when thumb is 71-101 pixels)
 I have played a bit with the "Sharpen" and Unsharp Mask filter of Photoshop. 1.  2.  3.  Anyway, maybe somebody can tell me how I can get the best results. Thank u very much!

when you sharpen an image you are adding weight to the graphic. I dont know techincally "why" but as soon as you sharpen youll add a little weight to it.
i try do as best i can without shaprening. go to "save for web" and fool around with that, youll get better results, but youll have to toy around a little more.. thats what i do anyhow... heres a recent 88. <img src=http://www.fletchxxx.com/images/88.jpg border="1"> 3.8k

i take that back, i use sharpen but you have to tweak it right.

looks like youre using Save For Web, and thats all i use, i got it down to under 3k and looks good...

I think you'll get better results if you use close ups like Fletch, for some reason I get better results than when I try to show the full body
