Ebay pros... how much time remaining before you submit your bid!?

is 5 sec left safe? or does it takes more time for ebay to get your bid?

There are eBay sniper programs out there that will be in the last 2 seconds of the auction.

Don't leave it for the last second. I tried that once and my connection got real slow right on that moment and I lost the auction.

yep, try to figure some extra seconds before the end of the auction.... that way, you'll have a longer 'buffer' in case internet makes a free game (lag time !!)

I try to snipe most of the auctions I bid on. I don't use any programs to do it, just have a few browsers open and refresh until 1-2 seconds left.

True, I do that too on lower-priority auctions.

Make sure you refresh or press submit ahead of time, I've been late by a mere split-second after the auction already ended.

correct me if im wrong .. but the fucked up thing is if the current bid is indicating $100 for exemple... the guy might have actually bidded $150... so if you try $105 two sec before the end.. you'll lose...

I think even if you bid $2000 on a $100 bid... if you win.. you'll only pay like $101 ... im I correct?

Any sniper program should work....as long as no one else is using one on the same item

Auctionsniper.com is very good and only 20 miles from ebay's servers. But never go less than 5 seconds. You could have a network problem at a crucial monet and end up kicking the dog when you miss the auction because of a timeout. Its even worse when it ws a real bargain and you would have gone a lot highr

If you use auctionsniper, always leave a bid way higher than what the bid is currently at. there is always a battle in the last 30 seconds, so let them fight it out and come in with 5 secsonds. Too late for them to come back at you.

Also a big tip. NEVER LET THE OTHER BIDDERS KNOW THAT YOU ARE THERE. NEVER LEAVE A BID. EVER. If you leave a bid with 4 days still to run, you will be alerting yourself to other bidders and if they use a sniper program will set their highest bid perhaps higher than usual.

How i work depends on what auction it is and who is doing the selling.

Some things I buy on eBay the seller has a continual stock so if I don't get that one, I'll just get it the next time. The people who bid on the items are usually the same too. We all have this unspoken rule that has developed. If I see it first I bid the minimum and the others don't bid, and vice versa. If a newbie to that particular seller, several others will force the bid up high just to piss them off.

When I am unfamiliar with the seller my "maximum" bid goes in about 5 seconds before close. If someone outbids me, that is ok, I don't want to get caught in the "i gotta beat them" syndrome 5 minutes before the auction ends and pay more for it than I wanted to. You will just find the same thing again one day, so no biggie

yeah but if the bid is at $100... and you bid $200... you'll only pay $101 if you win... but if you bid $200... and right after you someone bid $150.. you'll have to pay $151 right? Other wise.. you just need to put $10,000 and no one will ever beat you... while ending up paying $101...
