American Dollar

Damn the american dollar is killing me...

I'm from Australia and i used to love when the cheques used to roll in because the usd dollar was strong and i'd make a killing from the conversion rate...

Now it's weak as piss and i get shit all...

Although it's good to buy stuff though...

Funny how most don't undestand it's advantageous for the US to have a weaker dollar right now. It's being kept low on purpose. the EU is pissed about our manipulation and wants an investigation ... but all I can say is .

The weaker American dollar is good for our exports here though. Countries that usually won't buy American products are doing so right now because it is a good time to buy our stuff since out dollar is weak. Though it won't last. The buying spree will push the dollar back up which will make everyone except huge exporting businesses happy.

True. It's a balancing act, and a long-term devalued dollar has many bad consequences. But I'm just pointing out that a weak dollar has many temporary benefits (for the US) as well - something many here don't seem to realize.

The strength of the Euro is actually hurting the EU BIGTIME. Look at the rising levels of unemployment in some countries, and the P & L sheets of major EU exporters.....things are a mess over there right now, and there are several EU members that are screaming about how strong the Euro is.

You're absolutely right about the US being 35% off right now. That is what is driving such great export booms at the moment. (we will have to balance our debt payments out though)

In the mean time I find that dollars make very good toilet paper. It's soft to the touch and absorbs all that moisture.

The weak dollar is very good for american industry because it makes our products very attractive abroad. It is also good for labor, because wages become relatively lower to those of foreign counterparts so fewer jobs are shipped overseas. If you think it will continue to stay low, I suggest you invest in the S&P 500.

And since the debt is in dollars, it will be paid back in dollars. Remember that debt is auctioned off in Bonds which are USD based of course.

I personally don't like the weak dollar, but it's definitely not all bad.

hello, unemployment is huge in the US, fact is that you're loosing jobs every day and your currency is weak, how do you think you can pull the dollar up again?

The only reason a lot of US companies can keep a profit is of the euro's they keep getting in.

I think the US is in worse shape than the EU at the moment and the sad thing is that most of it is caused by your own leaders

yes it is, but remember Germany's unemployment is because of the global economical state, the US unemployment is in part caused by the US leadership: the deficit, the loans from China, which will have to be repaid, actively allowing jobs to move to places as China and no extra export allowed to these countries, ...
the US is being sucked dry
