Front page or Dreamweaver?

I'm ready to dump this horrible IBM homepage builder, I have been using for 3 years.

Which of the above two mentioned are better? Comment appreciated! Keep in mind I have limited HTML exp.

Thanks!

FP is cool but it adds a bunch of extra coding that isn't needed...

Frontpage is much cheaper but it adds a ton of crap into the pages that you dont want or need. The nice thing is that if you can use any microsoft product then you will have the basic layout of the program already... I think front page is like 150$

Dreamweaver is also nice.. Does not add as much shit...

If you have 2k pro you can use interdev.. It is a kick ass program that microsoft come out with...But you need to know HTML for ALL of them!!! THERE IS NO WAY to get around it...

I don't use Notepad for HTML but for my PHP coding I use just a text editor or the code editor in Dreamweaver, but I would recommend downloading the trial version of Dreamweaver and make sure you like it!

That coffeecup software that the guy mentioned earlier isn't as powerful as dreamweaver!

If you like working in code, HomeSite. Used to be a solo product - Now, it comes free with DreamWeaver (may still be able to get it standalone). It is like notepad on crack - You work in code, but it has litte shortcuts for repetative items, like font tags and tables. If you need WYSIWYG, use DreamWeaver.

Dreamweaver's only like a thousand lightyears ahead of Front Page.

Front page sucks big time by adding crap to the code that makes the pages it creates imposible to work with other applications. It may also totally mess up your server config if you are not careful.

If you want DW2004MX though, the trial only requires a serial number to become the full version.

Frontpage won't add un-necessary code to your pages if you configure it properly.
If you just use it the way it is out of the box then yeah you're fucked. But if you uncheck the boxes for using div and span tags and check the box that says preserve existing html then it writes code just fine.

There's really no substitute for learning html though. All editors have their limitations but there's nothing you can't do in raw html.
Its the language your business is built on and it amazes me how many people in this biz (not just the newbs) have no idea how to write html.

since you have limited html experience, i would go with frontpage. Its alot easier to use as a WYSIWYG. With dreamweaver you pretty much need to know the coding before you can make a website look right.

if i were you I would get both of them, and see which one you find better.

Dreamweaver is so much better then Frontpage!!!

Of course the best way to create your website is using notepad, becuase you don't get all the extra html code like frontpage or dreamweaver putt's in your html.

I always create my pages in dreamweaver just becuase i don't have to write all the html codes myself and then edit it with notepad to remove all the html codes you don't need.
