Whats the deal with that?

well I have seen a few times where a sponsor will talk about "exclusive" webmasters only content, promo materials, blah blah blah, only to get inside and see 3 pictures and one ratty old banner.

Not the case. No promises about promotional material.

Fair enough.

The general question however was grounded in the program in my sig.

generally i don't like one or two things about the program which i couldn't tell from the mainpage so i don't promote it

it could be anything really, payment options to promo material etc.

Most of the time when I do that it's because of low quality promo content and materials.

I've signed up for sponsors (some of them well known) who have a load of stuff for affiliates, but it's all crap.

Alright - I will ask a very specific question from you guys.

How about the program of miss softie disposablepussy.com what would cause you to sign up for it and then not send any traffic?

I would really appreciate answer.

no one will believe this but sometimes a porn surfer will sign up to a program just to get at the free content, which they save and post on boards.

I would not say no thanx to that.

However it was not the intention behind my question.

I suppose you will not believe me - but that is outside my control.

I have accounts with tons of different sponsors. I see something they have I like, just sign up now and add it to my personal sponsor list in case I need it in the future. I actually almost never have signed up with a sponsor and started promoting right away.

Thing is I seriously doubt if someone who signs up just to tell me what may be wrong with the program would care to send traffic.

Interesting. I could see how onw could do that.

Does it ever really happen that you start promoting something later on though?

I think I've signed up with 50-60 different sponsors, but only actively promote 3-4 of them.

Some of them, the webmaster system really sucked and I didn't want to go back. Others I planned to promote and never got the chance.

*shrug*

Ok - I am starting to get the pic - this means only about 1 in 10-15 webmasters who sign up will actually send any traffic.

Fuck - this sucks.

Same here. Perhaps a sponsor seemed to have galleries that would fit on a page but turned out not to after I signed up, but later on they may add something I can use or something they have fits better on another one of my pages.

Why do sponsors fail to supply the proper information that webmasters are looking for in a program? Instead of boasting about why your program is so much better than others and your payouts are highest etc.

Tell us what kind of payment options you have, and if you have hosted galleries, free content, etc.

I often find myself looking for pornstar hosted galleries for a project, find a pornstar sponsor, says hosted galleries, signup and find maybe 5-6... oh well. I guess I'll keep looking...

Depends on ones traffic.

Funny thing that one can sign-up to most programs using fake information and see the quality of their promotional material and decide from there open a real account.

I can't comment on your program specifically and I might even have signed up out of curiosity, can't remember.

For most programs, I read the hype, see everyone's claimed ratios, hear about their amazing resources... and then sign up after having a few beers.

If I'm not turned off by the webmaster's area, I'll send a couple thousand hits - maybe less. If there are no sales from this small amount of traffic, I'll switch the links out to a program I KNOW is going to get me at least a couple of sales. I'm not pumping 20k hits to a program to let the stats balance out when I know I could have already had at least 40 signups.

My traffic is very niche oriented and fickle though, so I rarely blame the program.

I think you would remember if you signed up for selling Miss Softie instant pussy - I mean, frankly most people freak out when they are first confronted with the concept of filling plastic bags with warm water and fucking them

Sounds like a very good method - by sending a couple of k of traffic you will KNOW THAT IT IS GOOD - or if it doesnt work.

Ya that was very nice. Here's my two cents for originality.

I'm just starting out and I've joined a few programs. There are a few things come to mind.

There are so many programs and very little differentiation between them, it is easy to forget about a particular sponsor. I'd suggest pushing your webmasters. Being a part of your affiliate program is a priviledge not a right. So if they are not actively doing something then kick them out. Now if you sit back and have some sort of automated script checking logs and kicking people, you're not going to capitalize on this concept. Email the webmasters that are underperforming. Perhaps they have forgotten, an email from you will remind them that they have joined. Perhaps they have a problem with your system (broken links, don't understand something, etc) and an email from you serves as an invitation to tell you what the problem is. It's so much easier to hit reply to than it is to search out an email address on banner and porn laden web pages.

Then there is the issue of experience. Perhaps they have joined but are not in a position to send traffic because they have none. Sure they make galleries or whatever else, but, how are they getting that out to the surfer? If you as the program admin take an interest in making your webmasters more productive, they will appreciate the effort and will support your program over others simply because you might review their work! and if they start to make money, from a sense of obligation/appreciation.

You have unique content so your program wouldn't get lost in the wash, but, how actively do you engage these underperforming webmasters? Do webmasters have a hard time coming up with ways to promote your product? My suggestion, don't ask this question here. Ask your webmasters.

Cheers

Thanx. THis is actually some useful advice.

I do not think it would be practical to educate webmsters from nothing to experienced - there are several good places where that education is already available!

But to ask for specific concerns is of course a good idea.

Your not alone. Same thing happens to me to. I have a variety of content, static banner, animated banner, (all different sizes) I give awsome cash bonuses and prizes too.

I have TONS of affiliates but something like 1/3 of them actually promote me.

You think that sucks, try a sponsor and get conversions like 1:8000+ or do a gallery and pour your heart into making everything right and get zero return after you delivered 30K hits on the gallery (you bought the traffic too).

Sometimes I test a sponsor, if it doesn't play, I leave it be for awhile, but can come back sometimes. Often the second go around works when the first didn't. My sites change, my traffic changes (Google Shit).

When I'm putting a gallery together or a page on a site, I may need art of a specific size. Many sponsors don't offer enough variation in banner sizes. Sure you can do your own art, but that takes time. Plus, there are others that sure do a better job than I can on graphics. If ya ask a lot of sponsors will bend over backwards to create whatever you need. I don't ask often enough.

Time is often an issue too, if it takes a ton of time to figure out what the links should look like etc. -- ya just move on to another sponsor with an easier console to work with.

Not fear though! I was looking at mensniche again a day or two ago and will prolly use it on some new pages.

Hope it conversts!

How about the program of miss softie disposablepussy.com what would cause you to sign up for it and then not send any traffic?

I would really appreciate answer.
Didn't bother writing down password. Program never sent confirming email with userid and password. "Welcome to our program" email doesn't include link codes. Can't log in to get link codes because no pw. "Forgot your password" link says it mailed password -- but didn't.

That enough reasons?

Oh fuck!

I hate to hear that - and am grateful at the same time.

I don't manage it - but I will see to it that it is taken care of.

Big thanx

Actually the forget password link just take like ten minutes. If you check your mail now you have probably got it now.

I've signed up for programs I've seen on boards & stick 'em on my TO DO list. I'll start promoting them when I have time, but right now I have my plate full.

80 - 20 Rule. Only 20% of those who signup will ever be worth a grain of salt.

If you have 500 affiliates you can bank on 5 to 10 star players at best that will generate the bulk of your income. Twenty to fifty consistent affiliates. and 50 or so who will send you a lite amount of signups.

Toss the other 400 in the circular file in terms of making any signups from them or their traffic. Its just not going to happen.

lol

Dude, no offence, but even if I thought you weren't an idiot, I'd never promote your product because your tour's just shit. Your product isn't completely without merit and you obviously believe in it but none of my hard earned traffic is ever going near a tour like that. You need to hire a proper designer and copywriter.
