The kid has the potential to go far in life. Sometimes the school of hard knocks is a much better teacher than the most expensive prep school.

His devotion to his family shows that he knows the value of family and the responsibilty that comes with that.

i get a phone call this morning from a local kid, he wants to shovel the snow off my deck. he's done it a few times before and i pay him well, but today i remind him that it's -50C and he can wait if he wants till it warms up. anyway - the wife drives him home. We know he's from a single parent household. He tells my wife that his mom doesn't get paid till tomorrow and she didn't have any money able to buy any food for the whole family -(he has two siblings as well) so she'll be really happy he's got some money for food for the family.

the kid's only about 13.

ok, personally i think the mom pissed her money away but that still doesn't take away from the fact that this kid really impressed me.
