Mmmmm TastyKakes

I bet q00p on the Eagles vs Panthers game, he bet me some TastyKakes and I bet him some of the authentic Dr Peppers from the original plant since I'm in Texas. Anyway I got my TastyKakes today, he paid super fast, considering I got the TastyKakes from Philly already today.

Damn these are good, I think I'm hooked and need to order some more. It was great betting with you q00p.

Now I need to figure out how we can setup a webmaster exchange so that webmasters can order regional treats and stuff from all over the country through one another.

did you post this just to sniff out who is originally from Philly? It worked

Butterskotch Krimpets get my vote for the best variety.

Now, if you can sing the tastykake song you know you are from the area

I would like it, I think there needs to be a small fee paid out to the webmaster for taking their time to do it, or not. I would do it no problem just so we could all get our hands on stuff from all over the world even, let alone just the country and it would be cheaper to get it from someone like that instead of finding an online place usually.

The small regional stuff and the price thing was my reasoning as well.

Amazingly, you can buy Tastycakes in some of the grocery stores down in Atlanta. Like Sarah, the butterscotch ones are my favs.

I'm enjoying them for sure, hell I better watch out or I'll eat all of them tonight while at my desk. I did scan the site and I noticed that they sell them by the case even, I may have to order up a case or two and sell them out of my trunk like crack here in Texas.

i'd love to do some betting for regional foods. the only problem is that long island doesn't really have anything that good that you can deliver. we pride ourselves on great restaurants instead. i'm gonna have to think of something

I would love to have some Sauer's brand mustard and Sauer's brand seasoning salt. I haven't been able to find either since we moved to Arkansas from Georgia.

There are two other things that I'd love, too, but they are too perishable.

I'd love some slaw burgers from the little restaurant down the street from my old Middle School and I'd love some burgers from Krystal's. Those frozen ones don't cut it. The nearest Krystal's to me now is in West Memphis, about a 2-3 hour drive, I think. *sigh*

I found something after we moved here that I hadn't seen in Georgia for years... Bosco chocolate syrup! We used to have that when I was a kid and then they stopped selling it. I surely was glad to find it here!

I'd also nearly kill for some Sealtest French Onion Dip. I used to eat that almost weekly with Ruffles when I was a kid but they stopped having it and I found out recently why. They apparently had some cases of food poisoning and now they only sell it in Canada where it's produced because they claim it's too dangerous to ship it. I'd take that risk.

Junior's Cheesecakes packed in dry ice. You can probably get them cheaper than we can on the net and that's the whole point, get a better deal, or even more to get stuff from places in the country that people want that's not available on the net yet.

Mmmm Krystal's I went there the last time I was in Memphis, it's good stuff, I could go for some White Castle or Imo's Pizza from Missouri.

See that's why as webmasters we should all hook up an exchange by listing a local treat or something that we have access to and then webmasters could contact us and arrange to buy some and have it shipped.

There's no reason Sarah why a Philly webmaster shouldn't be able to get some TastyKakes to you if you're willing to pay the shipping and I'm sure you are, hell you could probably get it cheaper and overall better through a webmaster.

He sent me the classic collection of the website, so it has a variety of a few different kinds. Good stuff I'm afraid to sit it on the desk because I'll eat them all and then I'll end up out and have to order more the same day I got some.

Too bad I can't send a fresh In-N-Out burger.

What else does L.A. have. hmmmm

Fresh implants.

Houston's old implants.

And some Jerry's Deli. Hold the labia.

a lot of people like the kandycake ones..the one with a hardish chocolate covering and peanut butter thrown in. There is a place in Reading Terminal Market in Philly that does hard pretzels covered in the same combo people like it so much.

See, this is why I am fat now..I grew up in around that city.

I'm sure there's something out there that you and some others could take care of. We'll just have to think about it.

Sarah I think ate a couple of those already, they're pretty good, I'm tempted to just eat the whole box right now.

don't save them too long..they do have a fairly short shelf life. Time before last that I went home I took back a box of Butterscoth Krimpets just before I started a diet. The idea was every 5lbs I could have one. Imagine how pissed I was when I took down the box and they were green!

So, there is your excuse

Yeah man it's the old style recipe from the original plant. They use pure cane imperial sugar and bottle it. It's the original first plant I believe and the only place in the US that you can get it. It tastes totally different, much sweeter.

Good excuse Sarah I think I better start eating, I would hate for them to go bad.

Just so happens there's only one place you can get it other than the plant, they sell to one online store, here's the link

Would be interesting to try an idea like a webmaster deli, so to speak. Perishables would be kinda tough, but setting up the website wouldn't be too difficult. Order fulfilling would be the difficult part. However I'd love to get some soft pretzels from Philly and stuff like that. :D

That's sweet! It worked, no icing on the package at all, all of it was on the cakes! Hell yeah, I'm going to eat the hell out of these things, we need to setup this webmaster exchange.

Sarah, you email me at:

raven at sin - text dot com and we'll figure out a way for me to order you Tastykakes and ship them to you.

I grew up in the Delaware Valley... Right near Ardmore.

As to regional hard to find foods.....the food network used to have a show about that. I'm sure it's on their website.

Where can I get the SKI brand of soda? Where where? I can send someone in the midwest something from L.A. but really the only thing regional here is some impressive Tacos and In N Out Burger. Also who can send me H&H Bagels fresh from New York?

For soda this is the one place I go for all kinds of stuff, maybe they have it.

For all this other stuff I would like to try and set up and exchange. Looks like some people are interested in it a little bit so far.

I just reread my post and I sound very desperate and bitchy. heh heh
SKI even has a website but the store isn't operational yet. H&H has a website too but I'm skeptical about how fast they'll ship.

I remember growing up in Jersey my grandfather used to work in Philly a lot...and he would always bring my brother and i some pretzels from the vendors on the street. We used to eat the shit out of those pretzels...until i saw a special on the Philly station's news while i was down the shore that showed the vendors pissing and some actually shitting under bridges, in alleys, etc...and then walking back to the truck and dishing out some more pretzels, shitty hands and all.

i didnt eat another one of those pretzels for like....two weeks.

on the subject of regional foods...anybody out there from jersey too who is obsessed with pork roll i.e. Taylor Ham??

Damn, that is the super-awesome, kick-ass idea of the week!

I'm in. I got GooGoo bars, horehound candy (don't laugh), and Cracker Barrel gift certificates.

I wanna trade with someone from Seattle. I NEED MY COFFEE!!!!!

Pork Roll = the Jersey shore to me but it is a farily big deal in bucks county too. I think it is because we lived farily close to the Hatfield meats plant that we gets all that stuff in the markets.

Unfortunately being one of the cool kids I couldn't help myself and pretty much ate all of them that were left in the box.
