Do you trust GreenGuy and The Statistition's stats for webmaster programs?

Kind of get a bad feeling about them......

I particualy dont like that GreenGuy masks his referal codes on the links..... but I am a born sceptic

Anyone know something about these sites?

I would only ever trust my own stats and recommendations from people I know and trust. It is quite interesting how the statistican shows their own click tracking vs the sponsor's though.

If you knew how much the statitician sells their clicks for (unless its changed) you have to be certian that you are gonna convert before participating.

I take all advertised "ratios" anywhere with a very large grain of salt.

I am more interested in examining tours for traffic leaks, and the sponsor's reputation then what someone claims to have done with their traffic. It's not my traffic afterall.

I'm not saying that the statistition is corrupt, but it would be easy for a program owner to give them a much better signup ratio than normal, in hopes of getting better results

You dont know until you try it yourself with your traffic.

People who rely on either a website owner or sites like this to get ratios before joining a sponsor have not figured out this business yet.

I trust GG 100% ... he is one of the few i trust, his traffic does rock, and is very targeted.

I can only tell you the facts of our experience.

You have to pay to be included in the Statistician.

They signed up and as fas as affiliates go, they converted with some of the worst ratios, but they were not sending a whole lot of trafic to our program to test with.

I tried the programs that they listed as the top converters and they did not perform for me.

So for us, the data provided was not useful either way.
This may not be the case for other people. If it didn't work for someone, I assume it would not still be around.

if The Statistician was sending the traffic anonymously and the sponsor didn't know it was their traffic maybe the stats would be more accurate, assuming that The Statistician was 100% honest.

but what sponsor is going to shave knowing that there sales are being monitored and posted for the world to see, so it's a pointless exercise.

For what its worth I know both of these folks really well, and I personally vouch for the integrity.

Different things work for different people, we are not questioning those facts from a revenue/traffic angle.

But if you want to know if there is integrity, I can answer that, and the response is "WIthout a doubt".

One of the bennies from being around since Day one.

Now there are MANY that are shitheads but neither one qualify.

Not likely, this business does not work this way. We webmasters love drama and love to see figureheads fuck up or fail, and it would our pleasure to embarrass them and knock them down a few rungs and show the world their traffic sucks....but GG traffic does not and it is what it is, and there is NO need to give him signups and make him any more full of himself, he does it all himself and has earned the right to be called, "The Man" :-)))

Ya gotta love him, he is the real deal.

I am actually making funeral arrangements for my mother today but I felt the need to post.

Greenguy takes his stats directly from revstats. I have seen him do this. Anyone that has gotten traffic from Greenguy knows that his traffic is excellent.

The reason for having his referral code for his sponsors is simple. It's just good business. Anyone that wouldn't use their referral code knows absolutely nothing about this business.

yeah but that site is not about testing GG's traffic it's about testing the conversion rate of sponsors. if his traffic converts good with sponsor A, Sponsor B and Sponsor C, Sponsor D isn't going to shave to make GG look stupid, he's going to add a few singups on to make his sponsor program look like it converts and that they don't shave.

i wasn't questioning the integrity of GG, just the sponsors that use that service. but i've taken on board what you said.

As for their integrity, well I just don't know them so I couldn't say.

After trying programs based on their stats, I can say those numbers are worth a bucket of warm spit IMHO.

But that doesn't mean they are fudged necessarily.

and while I'm here, I'd add that IMHO, sites sell, not sponsors.

Folks a peek into some stats is information, not a way of life. Take it for what its worth, use it to analyze trends and make informed decisions.

Be grateful you have some benchmark tools, there was a time when there was none and you spent 100 hours a week guessing.

I trust his stats but that doesn't mean there aren't other variables that could affect the outcome.

Ars has a lot of sites so it's natural they would come in higher on the list of overall sales.

Some would depend on the sponsors placement on the pages he's sending traffic from. Take one that has lower numbers and move them up to the top of his pages ahead of the others and you might see different results.

Are webmaster referral fees calculated into his totals..

blah blah blah and so on

Regarding my sig file...
The person that wrote that I should have checked the rules and that my sig file was too large had no clue.

The problem is that it used a rotator that was called from another Resource Site where for some reason the name is banned here. Let's just say, GGandJ. This is why I suspect my sig file was changed. It used a banner that was 120x60 which is what the rules say I can use.

So Lensman, are your rules for some but not all?
