I usually have scheduled in weekly shows like - cover story when I play some of the modern covers against the originals(and usually complain about them) and retro movie spotlight but I took them out of rotation for when I went to vegas because I wouldn't be here to update them At any rate, I think it just came out of one of the alternative blocks so be careful, there might be some junk in there to please the masses |

I do like "ordinary" 80's pop too - sort of Nick Kershaw "Wouldn't it be good", ELO "Mister Blue Sky", etc - still good after all those years. (Right now, it's Georg Friedrich Händel on the CD player - but that's a whole different ballgame as they say). |

		 Sarah you are so right.

As a drummer in a punk rock band, I can not stress enough as to the importance of certain things. For instance, a snare tuned too high will turn me off to something immediately...In the mix, I like to here a lot of high hat, not as much kick drum and a good dry snare tuned in a mid range. Drums are what really sets apart older recordings from newer ones. If you've listened to enough stuff, old and new, you can pretty much tell what era it was recorded just from the drum sound. They used different techniques back then, like condenser mics on the snare and fewer mics all together. I've actually researched this quite a bit...me and the guy who records us sit around and try all kinds of stuff to get that 77' sounding snare drum, and so far we've failed. We're going in this sunday to finish our LP, I'm gonna try some new things to try to get it sounding like, for instance, any dead boys song. |

it is good to know i have paid attention to what I hear. A while back hubby gave me a lecture about how when T-rex and glam rock was hot in the UK the drums were a real feature - for example sometimes having two drummers on stage ( though addam and the Ants picked that up and made it big later) and that since punk in the UK was in some ways a backlash to glam (which was huge here and btw, I equally love glam or different reasons) they were used to hearing pronounced drums. Who knows if he was right but works for me I love gutair but these days it can be used INSTEAD of having a strong drum and as much of a slave I am to chunky gutair I know it is at its best when it is set against equally chunky drumming. |

		 Hey Sarah,

Then I have to send you my son's CD. They are alternative rock. I think you would enjoy their music. Not heavy but more soothing kind of music. Let me know if you might interested in listening ? |
