I'm amazed you didn't laugh your ass off at Bush's speech.

What point? If gays are part of society they should be allowed all the benefits that come with. It's not as if they don't pay there taxes or are living by there own sets of laws.

Laws are supposed to be created by the will of the people, not a dictatorship of a couple of judges. THAT's what this issue is about.:2 cents:

You're a fucking idiot, you totally missed the point. Wake up, it's not an election, it's human rights. If 60% of people in a state don't want black people to be allowed in white stores, well that doesn't fucking matter, does it? That just makes them retarted rednecks, it doesn't mean they should get their way.

Why, because people don't like Bush, and support gay marrige? What the fuck does that have to do with turnover in our industry? You need to learn how to make sense pal, your arguments are getting lammer and lammer. hmm, funny how you bitched out of that thread yesterday when asked if you support the extreme neo con agendy. Either back up your words or shut the fuck up.

jas1552 01-21-2004 12:55 PM

Gays have the equal right to marry someone of the opposite sex like everyone else.

i can't believe, in this day and age, someone would make such a bold statement. especially during a reelection year. next he will be saying that pets don't belong in the household and owners must remove them or they will find themselves in a federal jail.

m-m, f-f want to marry, so be it. they wouldn't be bothering me so what do i care (and i am sure there are many more who feel the same as i do). the gay mainstream market grossed 450 mil last year so i say more power to them.

if there is a god in heaven, get this guy out of office!

Agreed!

But Bush is pandering big time to the Religious Right since they are insisting on this. The Right wing has always had to have some enemy, and since the end of Communism, it was hard to find one.

BUT..then they discovered GAYS and all the terrifying horrors they are perpetrating on the United States. My god..we can't have people openly loving others..no matter what sex.

It's WAR that makes this a truly "Godly" country! Not love!

you want to fuck another guy in the ass? I have no problem with it, just don't ask the government to sanction it. When I was single, I wasn't looking for the government to sanction *my* lifestyle.

You want to REWARD families? WHY? Families are no more "special" than individual humans. And you argue against sanctioning gay marriage..yet that is EXACTLY what the government is doing..but only for heterosexual couples.

The government should STAY out of the marriage business completely!! I thought Conservatives were AGAINST the government getting in everyone's business?

its funny how segregation was suppose to end in the 60's but yet it's still very rampant today. rather then a race it is now a gender. i wonder if i will be allowed to vote, since i am a woman ya know :)

gay relationships do not bother me. its a relationship between two people and if it happens to be of the same sex, so be it. those relationships arent effecting me in any way just like heterosexual relationships dont.

lets concern ourselves with important issues like why are so many kid killing each other and being kidnapped. lets worry about those who had jobs for 25 years and are now on the unemployment line. lets worry about large corp execs stealing money from not only those who work for them but their clients as well.

there are far more important issues to worry about then who lays in bed with who.

You mentioned something about segregation of gender. Seperate public restrooms for men and women is the only example I thought of off hand where there is segregation of gender. Unless you are referring to gays as a gender in which case you're an idiot.

Carrie 01-21-2004 01:31 PM

In case no one noticed, it takes a man and a woman to make a family.

In all of human history there has yet to be two men who could conceive, carry, and birth a baby. There has yet to be two women who could conceive, carry, and birth a baby.

No, that's the idiot's version that I figured you'd come up with.

A child needs a mother and a father to have the best chance in life.
A child shouldn't be deprived of one or the other because Jimmy and Timmy want to play the full version of house.

male and female cant have kids, they turn to adoption

male/male-female/female can have kids technically but they still turn to adoption

all can raise kids equally....

So you are not a proponent of laissez-faire capitalism, but instead want a government which dictates how people should live? I'd almost think you're a commie :1orglaugh

Aside from that, lesbian couples actually do a better job at raising kids than straight couples. Gay couples can also adopt kids, something that is very beneficial to society (kids tend to do better in any situation which provides two parents in comparison to orphanages and such).

Something you could also wonder about is if the possibility of marriage endorsed by the state is what creates long-term, stable relationships. Wouldn't the people who choose to get married stay together for a longer time than those who choose not to get married anyway?

The argument of straight marriages being better for society than gay marriages doesn't hold if you're taking a practical point of view. The only reason one can say straight marriages should be supported by the government and gay marriages should not comes from either religion or conservatism for the sake of conservatism.

SexxxyChat-T 01-21-2004 01:57 PM

Back in the 1860's a majority of Americans didn't want to end slavery, even in the North. There was a war over it because ending slavery was the right thing to do.

Back in the early 1900's a majority of Americans didn't want to give women the right to vote. The judges gave them that right because it was the right thing to do.

Back in the 1960's a majority of Americans didn't want to end segregation either. There was nearly a rebellion over it, and it brought about civil rights - because it was the right thing to do.

Now we face the same issue - should gays have the same rights as every other American?

A majority of Americans don't want to give the gays the rights to marriage. The judges are interpreting the Constitution "All men are created equal" this means that even gay men and women should have the same rights as people like you and me. - it is the right thing to do.

How terribly narrow-minded

Imagine if Bush passed a law that said the only way to get the benefits of marriage is to marry someone of the same sex?

Would you marry another man just so you could file your tax return as a married couple, and have visiting rights to your partner in the hospital, and be able to leave your land to your partner in case of your death?

A church shouldn't be forced to marry a gay couple if it violates their religous beliefs. But the government should NOT be given a choice in this matter! All men are created equal in America, our Constitution demands it.

It's a fucking injustice to deny people these rights based solely on the fact that they love someone that in your mind they shouldn't.
