Are you hiring?

In the last couple of months 3 of my good friends have lost their jobs in this industry. I know a lot of talented people are either out of work or VERY unhappy with their current employers.

If you are looking for some good employees, post it here.

I expect a few of you fucking idiots to offer missionary positions and BJ assistants but I would prefer some serious announcements as well.

Let?s see what you have. Everything from web design to video editing/encoding to sales.

Who's hiring and how should qualified people contact you?

Biz is tightening its belt for sure. Alot of people are contracting out to cheap foreign labor. I know I am moving in that direction. About only thing a kid in a hut in Romania can not do is sell.

So....Do you have any sales/marketing positions open for those who do not live in huts?

Alex, it is not a matter of keeping Americans employed. My first concern is my bottom line. During the tech boom, I opened an office in Vancouver because in Dallas starting programmers were wanting $75K+. I could hire a good immigrant programmer in Canada for half that. Sounds like smart business to me.

Aaron, we are fully staffed in the marketing dept. right now. I will even be in Cancun in the new role of Special Marketing Asst.

The market in Canada is getting cheaper and cheaper too, in our last round of hiring we got 3 programmers on staff at 13$/hour - and they were glad to get it.

I'll keep your contact information in mind Aaron while we see if we're in need of coders for the next quarter.

Let me guess, A.E.C. kids? From like College Delta or whatever 8 months, 8000$ class giving place is in your region?

You can keep them. We fired the last one a few years ago when we decided we wanted real programmers.

in my opinion these guys who outsource for cheap foreign labour on a large scale are fucking themselves in the ass. as more and more companies do this, americans will have less and less money to spend. what happens when money that should of gone to americans to spend back into the economy is being sent to ppl in third world countries?

No, these guys were all 26 - 29 with 4 years experience under their belt and a Computer Science degree. We're on the east coast - cost of living is very low and so is pay.

What happen is cost of labor in those places goes up, suddenly, its not all that worth it to send everything oversea...

that or the government steps in with protectionist laws.

But I dont know if that will happen, the Government is currently busy on MUCH more important things, going to the moon.

Sorry I don't concur with you on that Brad.....I can do fine with one Mercedes as opposed to 4 as well as 2 homes as opposed to 4.

Funny thing is I wasn't even born in the states. I just went to school here and recognize that in oeder to keep the economy rolling it is better to employ within your own country so they can spend that money here.

Problwm with US businesses, they are to greedy...
All executives line their pocket with more green than they can ever spend.

Smart business to you seems a little narrow minded rather than looking at the overall picture.

Just my opinion.

Aaron,

Are they in Portland the people looking for work?

-------------------

I gotta agree with Brad on this one, for most programming and projects we outsource it.

A 20,000.00 quote from a company in the usa, I can get done overseas for 3-5k, just as good or better product too.

Such is the global economy

Death by outsourcing...
Why pay an American Designer when one in some third world country will do just as good?

Makes perfect sense and yet...
Makes me obsolete at the same time.

For 50 years America has been telling the "Degenerate" third world to jump on the boat and now they are finally and American business is collapsing in the process of downsizing.
The barrier to business off shore goes without question when cutting operation costs.
With the Birth of the Net, services are no longer a matter of location but communication. Add to the fact that development technology is no longer in a fixed position but a mobile one that moves at the speed of light.

The only thing required is knowledge to execute a service from anywhere in the world and the means of payment for services rendered.

The imbalance is the wide range of the cost of living that exhists in the global market place and the fact that American business has no obligation to conduct business within American borders.

Stand back and bare witness to the down fall of The United States as population grows and unemployment rises.

Anyone watch 60 mins. last week? When you call Dell tech support, you are calling India. Why pay someone in the US $2-3k a month, when they can provide basically the same service for $400 a month? I think Michael Dell is onto something.

One thing I really do not understand is why do people want to be American Citizens still? Its a simply a bad business decision!
