Pity the guy did not have the moral balls then.

Why is it that these guys stand up 2 years later and tell us all this? While he was taking the $$$ it seems he was happy to keep his mouth shut. But now he's left and a book deal is in the offering he's all honesty and openness.

I'm not saying he's telling the truth or lying, but while we are led by people with morals this corrupt we have little chance.

At least one of the British cabinet minister resigned when faced with the prospect of condoning a war he did not agree with. Ans quite a few of the Labour Party rebelled.

I can understand why he would stay quiet in the position he was in. If you'd worked hard to get where you were, then you'd be loathe to make trouble and risk getting the boot... or worse. At least he has eventually stood up and said his bit instead of staying quiet, and evidently he did kick up a bit of a stink if he got fired. Not saying that the way he went about things was absolutely the right way to do it, but understandable.

The other thing is that no one would have taken any notice if he'd come forward with all of this then. Bush managed to start the war as a follow on to Afghanistan by creating this totally fictitious association in Americans' mind between Saddam and Osama. While America was gripped with post 9/11 patriotic fever and the Bush propoganda engine was in full swing, the guy would have been shouted down and ignored by the mainstream media.
