Hit Bot Blocker! Please Test. Opinions
I tried this script I wrote the other day to try and get rid of hit bot traffic with the theory being that hit bots can't read image files.
It seemed to work. Issues: 1. My traffic went way down, maybe real surfers are too lazy to do it. 2. Can it be beat by a bot. Advantages: 1. Blocks fake hits from non-sophisticated bots without a doubt 2. Non-english traffic can't read the instructions so blocked 3. I fucking got sign ups even though traffic was low * My conclusion so far is that if many sites used this type of script the surfers would get used to it and good traffic would activate the site and be counted. Therefore my traffic would not have been so low. Also; maybe the good traffic did activate the site and the "low" traffic is simply the real traffic I was getting all along. My signups didn't go down!!!!! These bots are clicking through your site; through your hosted galleries and into your sponsors. So you may curse your sponsor for not converting but how can they convert off a hit bot!!??? They click through on your traffic trade and get detected by sites you trade with which makes your traffic look like shit and you get deleted from your trades!!! We gotta stop these bots or we are fucked!! So try these links out and test them: It will be a better test if you place the link on your domain and click through becuase then you will be able to run the activation report and see which domains activated and which did not. http://www.blackmonsters.com/main2.shtml After you click through from your domain use this link for the report http://www.blackmonsters.com/cgi-bin...ionreport2.cgi The report shows the domain then number of hits then number of activations by IP address. You have to get a new IP address to do a second test or wait 24 hours. If anyone has a bot that can beat the script then by all means please do it and prove it because I would like to know about it. Just post here with a new Nick name and brag about it. Thanks |

Im out of the loop on TGP's but you are saying there are hitbots running that just click-thru other peoples sites for no reason? I don't understand the motivation of the person running the hitbot.

I used a gateway on my topsite for years and had no problem with traffic. So maybe worring about the gateway is a mistake. Plus I can set my script to not block search engine bots!!! |

Maybe thumbzilla figures only shitty surfers will not click through to the main page and this is a chance to show more ads. It worked for my topsite list. If I lost traffic then it was probably shit traffic anyway. |

Don't most traffic scripts detect hitbots?

I appriciate your opinion but I noticed that you only have 14 post on this board. Maybe you are more a surfer than a webmaster and don't really know what other surfers will do. The activation report tells the story. PS: a surfer who is that lazy ain't gonna fill out no paysite sign up form either. |
