Quality looks outstanding. Are you happy with it so far?

I'm thinking about getting one also.

You need either a UV filter or a polarizing filter to make them a little less misty Looks nice though!

I'm VERY happy with it.. Mind you, I'm a very, very amateur photographer.. but definately the quality is better than my old coolpix, and than anything i've done with regular film cameras.

I like that misty look. It creates a very tranquil spiritual ambience.

There is beauty in softness. Sometimes you get tired of seeing things in ultra sharp perfection.

Yeah but it can also mess with colors.. if you want that misty look better to do it with a filter effect

I have one as well, the only problem is that the colors are not exactly right, there is a slight orangey-yellow tinge on some things (even in the pics you posted here) that seems common to all things Canon digital.

No sweat to batch fix in photoshop, though. :-)

Yeah, I've definately noticed the orangey-yellow thing.. It really only seems to happen when I take pictures with no flash, or with flash in really dark circumstances.. I'm curious how to get around that, since my main goals for this camera are taking pictures in low-light environment (concerts), and taking pictures of cute goth sluts.

Try this to fix your yellow problem. Custom White Balance. Take a picture of someone or something in the room you are wanting to take pics in. Then go to Custom White Balance, it will ask you to pick a picture, pick that one, then set. You will see an amazing difference! Trust me, I had the same problem. I do that everytime now and my pics look great.

Also, invest in a flash. I think you can pick one up for $100. Lighting won't be as harsh and no more red eye!

The orange lighting thign isn't a camera problem, it's a lighting problem.

It's hard to see with the naked eye, but most sources of light arn't white. Fluro tubes actually throw out a green glow, and most incandescent, and quite a few streetlights put out a nasty yellow colour.

The solution is simple, read in the manual about colour balancing. You can manually set the camera to balance out the yellow etc etc.

Better boat than i'm in, every time I want to colour balance I have to get colour balanced film :D

If you're taking portrait snaps a lot, a good flash will never go astray.. however I've taken thousands of good photos without..
