Have any of you been hypnotized for self help purposes and it worked?
like stop smoking - weight loss etc?

Only 25% of people can be hypnotized. Worth a shot but don't bank on it.

Never been... and wouldn't let anyone try. I think it's BS to begin with but whatever... I still wouldn't let anyone try to put me into some sort of zombie state.

It does work..

But if you are a person that is very good in math or logic, it will not work.

Try it out on your self some time. It is as simple as sitting someplace quietly for about a half hour and repeating something in your mind.. If you have to go to the dentist, and fear them, then repeat to your self over and over. There will be no pain...

It will work if you try...

wrong. anyone can be hypnotized if the hypnotist knows what they are doing. see the work of grinder and bandler, and anything on the work dr. milton erricson.

aslo there is an excellent little book called "monsters and magickal sticks: there's no such thing as hypnosis", that basically explains that everything is hypnsosis and basically we live in a world full of people trying to hypnotize everyone else.

Or you could go and check out HypnoGirls.com and ask any of the 20something girls if they believe it works. Many will be at the show. You'll recognize them.

Also I will have a pile of free tickets to see one of the Vegas hypnosis stage shows all week and into the video show so if you want come grab me and I'll get you in.

I went in a few months back simply to see if I could manage stress better. Hypnosis is simply deep relaxation. If they can get you into a deeply relaxed state, they send simple messages and/or encouragement to your subconcious.

I went 3 times and each time, I was given a tape of the beginning and end where they lead you into relaxation and then pull you gently out. For a while, I would put on my headphones when I went to bed and it was really nice to "meditate" so to speak and just clear my head so I could sleep better.

It helped me alot and kept me from having to take anxiety drugs so for me it was well worth it.

All of our little habits and behaviors are subconcious and can easily be adjusted or altered this way.

Mike you owe me a bump up for that segway i unintentionally gave you.

i'm seriously addicted to sugar - and was thinking I'd try a hypno tape to help me kick the habit.
We had a hypnotist at our school when i was in Junior High - i was a volunteer and that worked. Just not sure about the actual behavior modification type stuff.

It's (the CD) only $89 - lord knows I've spent more than that on diet pills
