They had a documentary on that whole war and what I found fascinating is that Soviet Russia and the US where in total agreement in this situation. They wanted a war between Iraq and Iran but they didn't want anyone of them to be victorious so they armed them accordingly and succeeded in what they wanted to accomplish.

What are the other solid reasons? How come so many people around the world claim the invasion was illegal? How come the security council wouldn't give US the go-ahead for war?

Saddam was pure evil incarnate? He gassed his own people? He was an oppressive tyrant? Therefore its america's duty to go in there, rambo style, and take him down, killing thousands of innocents in the process?

Can you possibly comprehend the notion that the rest of the world believes in unilateralism? United Nations? That a rampaging American juggernaut is as dangerous as any previous rampaging juggernaut? That there's no such thing as a legal case for unprovoked invasion of another country?

The US never provided Iraq with a single WMD...period. US companies sold Iraq materials that were dual use and when the use that Iraq was applying to the dual use materials became certain such sales were forbidden but some companies continued sales through indirect means...because of greed...and when this was learned some of those companies had a price to pay. The only weapons that were supplied to Iraq was some cluster bombs and they were not supplied directly. Other than that the US assisted Iraq and Iran both with intel...as the position at that time was not to allow either country to decisively defeat the other.

I and others have stated solid...sound reasons...ad nauseam...and I for one do not intend to keep repeating them and not all agree with them...which is their perorgative...but does not make the reasons any less valid.

Total BS. Several private organizations did recounts in some of the outstanding counties...and some did recounts of the entire state...and all...I repeat all...recounts showed the same results. Al Gore lost Florida.

no, they tossed out a lot of ballots that were not punched all the way through. Not saying that what they counted was wrong... just saying that ALL votes should have counted.. I mean just because the punch did not go all the way through... you could plainly see what the vote was and it should have been counted.

If there were solid reasons, the US would have had consensus from the security council. The Bush team asserting that they have solid evidence and reasons, does not make it so. President Bush asserting that occupation is liberation, war is peace, and recession is prosperity, does not make it so.

He was posing a threat on the Iraqi's themselves and the other countries, but what gives the us, USA, the rights to go and play dictator and tell Saddam he has to be taken out! I was fully against this war, since Saddam had nothing to do with 9/11 and he never posed any danger to us!

We need to get focused on what's really important, Bin fucking Laden, not fucking Saddam. Let's stay out of other peoples business and worry about ours!

You do not seriously think that the capture of a single man..Bin Laden...will solve the problem of terrorist attacks...there are multiple terroist orgs other than Bin Laden's...and there are many people to fill his shoes. Bin Land as an individual has little importance other than as a trophy...it is the cells that are spread around the world that represent a significant problem...as well as the new orgs coming to light.

my father was in WWII getting shot at. if he and a whole bunch of other farm boys from America hadn't done what needed to be done i might be writing in german right now.

I don't think it will solve the problem of terrorism, but it would be nice to get the man who has taken american lives on american soil... after all, this was his second attack on the world trade centers. I just think that if our government gave two shits about its people... he would be caught by now...

But as with leaving saddam alive after desert storm... maybe our government has their reasons for not going after him with the same vengence they went into iraq with.

The response to that is yes and no. Companies are at the present selling goods to countries around the world that are on the approved list of sales...but if some of the things that are currently being sold...come to some sinister use then they will be banned for sale to the country that is applying a sinister use...and it sometimes takes time to discover this. I do have no doubt that the government directly approved the sales of some dual use materials that it would have been prudent not to...but the times were such that we were trying to prevent a decisive loss by Iran or Iraq. Geo politics are not fun and games...but are serious matters...and are not black and white...but with shades of gray...and are not pleasant...but it is the responsibility of the US government to do what it perceives to be in the best interest of the nation. We are not compelled to seek approval of the UN or the world and in my opinion should never put the Nation in that position. Idealism has its place...but then cold hard reality...holds the upper hand.
