I need to lose weight.

Ok, so people that have good knowledge in this shit, I need your help. I want to join a gym but never seem to follow through with it, I live in a 10 floor apartment building, I was wondering, if you thought I could get a good enough workout to lose weight by jogging up the stairs everyday ( 10 floors) and doing minimal workouts in my room, I'm someone that likes doing this shit on my own, in private...I'd like to lose around 30 pounds, I'm not really over weight, I have a lot of muscle, but would like to lose muscle AND fat to go down around 170 pounds, I'm 200 now...

Any thoughts or recomendations, feel free to bash the hell out of me if you like, gfy has some of the dumbest and smartest people around.

don't lose muscle, that's not good for you. Lose fat. The thing is to not eat as much and do more exercise and if you jog 10 flights of stairs, say, oh, twice a day to start, you shouldn't have any problems losing your thirty pounds. Good luck!

Sweet, do you know whats odd? I was one of the top young atheletes in canada, yet, I haven't been able to keep the pounds offf the last couple years... I've made the canadian pre-olympic team, but yet, when left alone, can't stop from gaining weight.

I think I need some fucking motivation!!! ;)

Thanks Spunky...

if you drink coffee or soda cutting out both should be good for at least 15 lbs without doing anything. Also drink lots of water as it will burn calories.

Have a friend drop you off about a mile away from your apartment(don't bring anything but your keys cause you'll get tempted to take a cab or the bus).

Now jog back home

Advantages:
- Incentive is you want to get back home
- You have no choice but to workout

Diet is just as important as exercise. I am fortunate enough to be able to shed or gain 20-40 pounds as needed. I use a simple formula.

3500 Calories is roughly 1 pound. If you have maintained your current weight for some time on lets say a 3000 calorie a day diet and can bring it down to 2000 calories a day (good food.. you will also need to watch fat, sugars etc.) thats 1000 calories less per day or about 2 pounds per week that in theory you can lose. And yes it does work. Add to that exercise to burn additional calories and you should be able to shed a couple pounds per week. Probably more the first week as you burn off the water.

find some decent charts on the web showing how many calories are burned doing various activities (we are burning calories constantly but a lot depends on your metabolism). Use basic math. Burn more calories each day then you take in. You will lose weight

I you real wanna lose weight forget the stairs. It's the worst idea, trust me. If you wanna do it "private" get yourself a treadmil (40mins) a day. Joining the Gym with a friend will motivate you more. Btw weights are always a must.

You probably dont have a fast metabolism so cut down 60-70% on carbs and dont eat salty.

If you follow this I garantee you a minimum of 20 pounds loss in 4-5 months.

You probably wont do anything of that so

MY senior year I went on a diet so to speak.

I was 5'9 and 156lbs 1 month later I was 5'9 and 132 lbs

Then again I had to run 3-5miles a day on top of a 2-3hr NON Stop until I puke and keep going work out.

I also ran in trash bags and wetsuits.
You know if you shit and piss thats 2-3lbs
If you chew gum and spit all day thats 1-2lbs

If you don't eat + dont drink anything all day on top of everything above thats 5-8lbs a day You have 5lbs of water weight.

Don't belive me? You have never been on a Varsity Wrestling team.

All I can say is if you work out hard as fuck you will loose the weight. Its all a mental thing.

When I played high level hockey, i lost up to 10 pounds a game, so i believe you, but losing water weight is not helpful, you just gain it back...

i would say get a bottle of hydroxycut (Ephedrine free) to help you a bit. Start with 2 pills/day and you can go up to 6-8 with no problem. Ask a physician first about the dosages or read the bottle instructions.

I still keep the weight off.

156 TO 133 in 1 month is a huge loss for someone that was 5'9

Water weight is just one thing.

I would start running. and go on a Non Soda Diet.

Fuck all the other stuff Stop drinking Soda, beer and anything with High froutuce corn syrup aka suger = Carbs

You will loose it in a 3 weeks

1.) First day run 1/2 of a mile non stop then walk 1/2 mile back
Repete for 3 days

2.) run for 1 mile non stop and power walk 1/2 mile
Repete for 3 days
3.) run for 1 mile non stop harder then before then power walk harder back
repete for 2 days
4 run for 1 mile hard try to get it under 7mins Run 1mile back keep the 2nd mile under 8mins
repete for 2 days

I would only rest 1 day like on a sunday. So Run for 6 out of the 7 days of the week

Take Vit C pills for the extra Imune system boost because your going to feel like shit.

Most important thing is diet. Get a good diet cook book and understand what you are putting into your body. Cut out on refined sugars, flour, non-fiberous carbohydrates and saturated fats. Don't go for any of that quick weight loss, I guarantee you will put it back on. I picked up "The Zone" and "Fit for Life" and by moderating (not going hardcore) my diet and lifting weights a couple of times a week, I lost about 25 pounds in 6 months. I still do the shit I like (eat Mexican food and drink Beer), I just do it a little less.

Good luck.

Fuck, I gained a bit of chub in the last year. Some of it is muscle from a summer of mountain biking... But majority is fat

Is there any software out there that will excersize for me?

When I need to shed some weight, I fast one day a week. Just water. It's actually nice and you stop being a slave for food and snacks. Nutritional experts say it's very good - and gives the body a welcome rest.

Also:
* Avoid eating/drinking anything with more than 10% fat.
* Muscles are your friends. Don't lose them. They are the best fatburners in your body.
* Take the stairs, etc. Throughout the day, think of good excuses to go somewhere by foot/bike instead of driving.
* Cut down on sugary stuff and premade fruit juices. Sugar causes many serious diseases and the body burns the sugar before it starts burning fat. (This is the most difficult part for me - I like candy.

* Oh, and one last thing: Consider not weighing yourself every day. I know, it's tempting when you're on a diet. Instead, do it once a week. Consider these things life style changes and not just a diet. If it's just a diet, you'll regain the weight over a couple of months.

And you wonder why you are overweight after admitting the above? Besides empty calories, you are inhaling (so to speak) tons of carbs that just turn to fat.

Get rid of the beer or cut down to a low carb beer on OCCASION.
Get rid of the starches too..like living on potatos & pasta.

Overall, get a good cardio type of workout (run around town instead of up and down stairs).

Most of all..use common sense..sounds like you already know why you are overweight and what you need to do to lose the weight.

Weightwatchers.com Very liveable.

You can work out at home and lose. I think the stairs are a great idea. Try to exercise for at least 20 minutes.

Start your program with a detox

http://www.colonblow.com

You'll be shocked at what is in your colon. . Some people lose
pounds of stuff!

Once you detox, you'll feel great, your head will be clear and your body will be ready to utilize good food quickly.

You can work out at home and lose. I think the stairs are a great idea. Try to exercise for at least 20 minutes.

I have heard that too. I don't think I could actually do it though....

When I needed to lose weight I cut out the Diet Coke. That was a HUGE addiction for me. I think I drank 6 a day. Since stopping though, I have lost 7 lbs in 3 weeks. Nothing different. Just that.

I'm actually very musclular, I guess what I meant, is I wnat to just slim down to a nice looking size, right now, I have nice muscles and a bad layer of fat over some areas....I would look good without the fat and all the muscle, but I think i still wnat to slim down...
