Saddam Given P.O.W Status

He is now officially a POW governed under the Geneva Convention.

This is going to become very interesting, who wants to open the bets that he will be shipped across to The Hague for trial there?

You think the U.S. didn't torture anyone in Iraq?

If we treat Saddam like he is required to be treated under international law, he will get what he deserves and the U.S. will look good.

We don't need even more people in the world hating us right now.

'Hague Invasion Act 2002'

http://www.hrw.org/press/2002/08/aspa080302.htm

Quote:
U.S. President George Bush today signed into law the American Servicemembers Protection Act of 2002, which is intended to intimidate countries that ratify the treaty for the International Criminal Court (ICC). The new law authorizes the use of military force to liberate any American or citizen of a U.S.-allied country being held by the court, which is located in The Hague. This provision, dubbed the "Hague invasion clause," has caused a strong reaction from U.S. allies around the world, particularly in the Netherlands.
Bush has already fucked the chances of getting anything worthwhile coming out of any hearing about Saddam if he does end up being shipped across to The Hague.

As i said, things are going to get interesting

The Iraqis will end you trying him... and they should. I imagine they have much more interesting ways for Sodomize to spend his time that we'd be better off not knowing about.

its an opportunity for the US to look good

it doesn't matter what happens to Saddam, it's all about publicity after this point.

Were our soldiers tortured?

I remember they paraded them around on TV, which was wrong..but didnt we just do that with Saddam?

People need to really be open to the propaganda that flows from our government..

I believe Saddam will be back in power in about 7 years anyway..

I think he is the only one that could run that country.. and the sooner we leave it..the better!

My God, you are seriously deluded. If you think he will last 7 weeks, let alone 7 years, you are smoking some nasty crack..

Anyone find it ironic that they had to rename the operation to liberate Iraq from Operation Iraqi Liberation - a.k.a. O.I.L. to Operation Iraqi Freedom?

I think the first summed up the reason they went to war.

I find it sad that you fucking Candians have nothing better to do with your time than to bash the US. Especially considering how much we cover your sorry fucking asses all the time.

Now go make me some back bacon and a touq and shut the fuck up.

There was a good article in newsweek i believe it was that was all about the oil.. and how rich Iraq is in oil yet only has tapped like 5% of its wells..with the US contractors they could do laps around the Saudi's

I think the sooner we get out of there the better.. We are losing WAY too many soldiers since the war ended..

I think we won too quickly! A few thousand more bombs would have helped reduce these casualties to US personel..

I think youll see the trial of saddam start just in time for the election..

I just hate to see all these US soldiers still dying..

If he is considered a POW then the US has broken the terms of the Geneva Convention by allowing his picture to be released.

he's not going to the Hague, no death denatly there
and no one wants a 2 year circus there again either

he's not going to US, unless he admits to 9-11 and provides proof
here is an interesting new article on that
http://www.worldtribune.com/worldtribune/front_1.html

but most likely he's gonna go back to Iraq and be tried there and than executed

I dont think they will execute him..

Remember WE removed him..not his own people..

I think hes too popular in Iraq to execute.. there was no support amongst the people for US troops.. remember the guys running down the river looking for US soldiers shooting the weeds..

We are occupying that country..we freed noone..Heck we had to fly in leaders for the Iraqi council!

If they handed him over to the iraq people he would be dead in a heartbeat. They dont have hippie western values. They would torture him. Saddaam has some loyalists but most hate the sob. Guess you didnt see the people dancing in the streets today and celebrating. Plenty of pictures and videos of it were on all day.

No, they won't. He will stand trial AFTER they milk him for all the info they can. Killing him is the last resort. He will stay alive as long as he is useful to us. If he gets killed it will be his people that kill him, not us.

who's they Iraqi's ? oh yes they will.
But it will have to be only after we turn over control of the country to Iraq. As it stands right now no executions are permited right now while Iraq is occupied by us

the only people he's popular with are Palestinians and Arafat.
I wonder if we can execute both of those fuckers at the same time ?
Saddam has less than 10% support in Iraq and thats only in Sunni areas and his hometown of Tikrit

And once they find he rolled like the pussy he is what will happen? We will have to protect his sorry ass until he has no more info for us.

I find it hard to feel sorry for a fuck like him, mostly because I don't.
