Sir is old school. When people say sir nowadays its more of an insult. " yes sir " " sure thing sir" or they are pakistani. They use sir alot.

I gave the phone company a call there to find out about my DSL and the girl i spoke to managed to put sir in the sentance more times than the actual words she was trying to get across to me!
