BCS is bullshit! USC #1 but no SUGAR?

Fuck this shit. USC is #1, noe of this 'should be, could be' crap- USC is #1 - and thus they shoudl be going to the sugar bowl. But the stupid BCS is gonna fuck them over. So tell me - how are the #2 and #3 teams going to play for the National Championship while the #1 team just watches them?

BULLSHIT

There is NO way Oklahoma should be in the picture after getting there assholes handed to them on a platter. no fucking way.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=1680412

"Southern California's rise to No. 1 in the polls apparently will not be enough to give the Trojans a berth in the national championship game.

USC (11-1) made the jump from second to No. 1 in the ESPN/USA Today coaches' poll and Associated Press media poll on Sunday, a combination of its 52-28 victory over Oregon State on Saturday and previous No. 1 Oklahoma's humbling 35-7 loss to Kansas State in the Big 12 championship game.

However, the Sooners are expected to hold their No. 1 position in the final Bowl Championship Series Standings. The standings and BCS bowl matchups will be announced later today (5:30 p.m. ET, ABC). The Trojans' BCS position -- they have been second to the Sooners for weeks -- was weakened due to losses by two of their opponents, Notre Dame and Hawaii, on Saturday.

That being the case, LSU is projected to be Oklahoma's likely opponent in the Nokia Sugar Bowl. The Tigers routed Georgia 34-13 in the SEC championship game and have the upper BCS hand over USC, according to ESPN's Brad Edwards.

Saturday's turn of events will allow LSU to finish eight spots better than USC in schedule strength. LSU now will be able to overcome a one-point poll deficit to USC, as long as it leads the Trojans in at least six of the seven BCS computers, which is expected to happen, according to Edwards.

USC's only hope was to jump to No. 1 and have Oklahoma voted No. 2 in either of the two polls, according to Edwards. USC, LSU and Oklahoma were 1-2-3, respectively, in both polls.

Since margin of victory is no longer a consideration in the BCS system, the Sooners will remain the top-ranked team in the majority of BCS ratings -- which in turn will enable them to stay in the top two of the BCS.

Edwards' projected matchups for the BCS bowls:

Nokia Sugar Bowl: LSU vs. Oklahoma

Rose Bowl presented by Citi: USC vs. Michigan"

Please...

Oklahoma dominated all year and got beat by a topsy-turvy Kansas State team in an unnecessary "championship" game which not every conference has to play. Every game Oklahoma played they controlled the game and against RANKED opponents. (please spare USC's win over a ranked Washington State team weaks ago; they are garbage). USC lost to a California team who finished just above .500. Oklahoma pummelled Texas and Oklahoma State who are both ranked in the Top 25. Where's USC at?

Please hop off your state pride.

They should add more weight to the games as the season progresses. Or maybe just a rule that you cant lose the last game before the Natl. Campionship game and still go. I think everyone wants to see USC and LSU. I understand the need for strength of schedule measures but they should have bonus point for things like winning your conference. If LSU doesn't go we are going to be screaming about not getting credit for beating GA twice. How fucked up to beat a top ten team twice and not get the quality win points. Maybe they should hire Google to decide the bowl bids.

Oklahoma lost in their conference championship game, a game in which USC didnt even have to play. Oklahoma also has a stronger strength of schedule....

I wouldn't even bother presenting facts to this puppet. He's from California, so he is having a hard time fathoming that USC isn't as good as its record stands for. Plain and simple: Oklahoma would destroy USC.

I dunno... despite having their asses handed to them by K State, i still think Oklahoma would spank the bejeezus out of SC, they're just an overall better team, but that's besides the point, point is... SC should not be ranked #1 on ANY poll, period

Now which Opponent is the better team? Oh yea and our game was in KANSAS. Get real, we deserve to play in the championship game.

when it mattered, the mighty sooners couldn't handle the pressure of the big game and got served like a high school team.

no you don't. Please tell me what fucking sport lets a team who cant even win its conference play for the title?

you don't win your conference you SHOULD NOT even be considered for the National Title Game

are you fucking serious?

why the fuck not? if the conference game determines who goes to a bowl game than EVERY conference should be playing in a conference championship game. do they, NO. Our regular season was over 2 weeks ago.

no, the rankings play a part in it as well, if the #1 and #2 teams win their conference (as they DID this year) they should be the teams playing for the title, not the #2 (who should be #1) team who won their conference and #3 team who didn't

what sense does that make? that'd be like kansas city winning the AFC and Philly winning the NFC and sending the bears and the Jets to the superbowl

Every conference should have a championship game for sure. I don't care if you have 8 teams in your conference get something lined up at the end of the year. It is stupid that half the confrences play that championship game and half don't.

As the rankings stand right now

LSU played 4 ranked teams
USC played 1 ranked team
(For those of you who insist on counting Auburn as a ranked team that USC beat----LSU beat them also!)

LSU won 12 games
USC won 11 games

LSU won their conference in an actual conference championship game

LSU's only loss was to a RANKED team

When the rankings are released later today, LSU's schedule strength is 8 harder than USC's.

Tell me again why USC should be ranked higher than LSU????

Bottom line is LSU has EARNED the #1 spot. I don't care who #2 is....but honestly I think OU is better than USC. OU lost their championship game, but USC didn't even play one!!

Talk smack once you've gotten Louisiana-Monroe and Western Illinois off your non-conference schedule... last week's BCS Strength of Schedule rankings: USC=37, LSU 54...

That comparison isn't even relative in diameter. Comparing the caliber of the Chicago Bears and NY Jets with Oklahoma is entirely preposterous.

you can't compare the nfl and college because we DONT have a play off system. We(12-1) still have a better over all record than USC(11-). I just read the entire post, USC played Hawaii who lost to TU? Give me a fucking break. Don't even tell me that they deserve to play in the national championship playing teams in the fucking WAC.

how isn't it? jets nor the bears will win their conference, let alone their respective divisions, but hell, if we're gonna send OU to the title game why not send the jets and bears? it'd be the SAME EXACT scenario

FUCK OKLAHOMA AND LSU!

AND FUCK THE BCS.

USC WILL PROBABLY PLAY A REAL FOOTBALL TEAM AND THAT IS MICHIGAN.

WHO THE FUCK GIVES A SHIT ABOUT THE SOONERS OR TIGERS.

The best game college football game will be played on January 1, 2004: Michigan vs. USC, the true football teams, with a real history under their belts.

All the drunks from OK (a team that did not win their division, but expected to be in the sugar bowl) and LSU can Go Fuck Themselves.

I absolutely can compare the two, regardless of different post season systems. playoffs or BCS style, the NFL would never send a team who didn't win the AFC or NFC title to the superbowl, but college football will!

that makes about as much sense as sending the lakers to the world series

W. Illinois was 9-4, granted not a great team, but everyone plays a couple of crappy teams.

Last weeks BCS Strength of Schedule...blah, blah, blah

See what it is this week. In the end, LSU will have had a tougher schedule than USC.

Both college polls USC is number one, keep in mind all the college coaches vote for this and they all voted for USC as Number 1, are you people and the fucking BCS telling me that all the coaches are wrong?

How the fuck can you play for a national championship game if you cant even win your division ( for those of you that are ignorant and reading and replying to these threads, Okllahoma lost their division championship game last night!).

The best game college football game will be played on January 1, 2004: Michigan vs. USC, the true football teams, with a real history under their belts.

All the drunks from OK (a team that did not win their division, but expected to be in the sugar bowl) and LSU can Go Fuck Themselves.

OU has dominated all season. You are construing an irrelavant argument with 5-7 teams from the NFL.

Here's how it breaks down:

USC has a terrible conference and aren't worthy of competing in the Sugar Bowl.

LSU plays in a strong conference with teams consisting of Florida , Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee. LSU lost to the inconsistent Gators. They beat Georgia twice. They beat an underappreciated Ole Miss team. They didn't play Tennessee.

Oklahoma plays in the Big 12. This is a conference with Kansas State who had a few let downs earlier in the year. Nebraska [okay, they aren't that great]. Texas which is a good team but can't compete with Oklahoma. Oklahoma destroyed them. Oklahoma State is a team everyone though would upset Oklahoma. What happened? Oklahoma demolished them.

USC has played shitty teams.

It should be OU vs LSU.

Oklahoma wins.

How the fuck can you play for a national championship game if you cant even win your division ( for those of you that are ignorant and reading and replying to these threads, Okllahoma lost their division championship game last night!).
What I am saying is that all the polls are bullshit on this one. Please explain to me how USC DESERVES to be #1 in ANY poll??? I agree that since OU lost their championship game they shouldn't go to the national title game, but USC should quit bitching because they didn't even PLAY a championship game!!

It does not suck being an SC fan and an alumni from the best school in the US. USC has the best connections in the world, many execs and leaders are from USC and we all stick together and help each other out.

Thank You USC for making me a multi millionaire! Thank You for giving me access to the best connections in Business that I could ever have! And thank you for the great memories and many more championships to come!

i'm sorry, "last week" makes how much difference "this week" besides none? Sorry, but with this weeks games strength of schedule swung our way, considering we beat 4 top 25 teams and you beat how many? oh yeah one......

your one loss to cal.... ours to a top 10 team.... we'll take those teams off our schedule when you take BYU, Hawaii, California, Arizona State, Stanford, Notre Dame, Washington, Arizona and UCLA off yours

that makes about as much sense as sending the lakers to the world series
obviously, you are speaking on emotion here. I agree. College football does need a playoff system, BUT THEY DO NOT HAVE ONE!!! If you lose late, you are penalized. You no longer get "extra credit" for winning big. And STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE COUNTS!!! Live with it.

Those "inconsistant" Gators we lost to are ranked

14 in the BCS
16 in the Coaches and AP polls
With a record of 8-4

Sorry if I confused you with what I am trying to convey. LSU lost to a Gator team that is a GREAT team but inconsistent with their wins. They play in tough games. I am "praising" LSU for the loss, not ruling out the Gators as a shitty team. Does that make sense now? LSU deserves the National Championship chance.

OU won there Division... the Big 12 South.

USC lost to CAL
OU lost to K-State.

K-State would kill CAL.
