How much SCIENCE do you employ in your Paysite designs?

Paysite owners and designers, how much research and hard science on user purchase behavior do you employ in your designs? If someone came up with such a technology that demonstrably raised your conversion to 1:150 guaranteed, how much would you pay for it?

Just a thought... because it seems, porn paysite design seems driven more by lucky and quirky art than actual databased experience and statistical numbers. I'm sure someone will tackle this if the payday is big enough.

Probably. It seems that despite the MILLIONS made off the Internet...search and selling technologies are still in their infancy.

When I was doing print marketing, we did a lot of this type of research.. I'd be interested in something like that.. Feel free to hit me up, $5, 3522039 icq or treasure at jactstudios.com.

That's the "problem". I've been studing traffic flows more
than a decade now, mostly in mainstream stuff.

From FTP to gopher and now the web. The only consistancy is
that as soon as you figure out how a traffic flow works a
variable flips and you've got to rework the equation.

The only reliable trick that I've found to keep ratios up over
an extended period of time is to change the tour sample
pics at an average time that a particular niche's bookmarkers
tend to revisit the site. Static tours say static membership
content.

Very interesting observations. We've been manually generating profiles and feeding them to a database. Maybe the trick is to plugin to a statistical modeling module that can make predictions.

Red White and Blue fonts do really well.....using fonts with curves at the end work really well too.....compare to square fonts....your sign-up page should include a lot of white because white is what people trust.....Comp Science and Psycho Majors really help

Yeah when I was in mainstream my job was to analize color combinations with the offer, with the price...

We had so much data it was mental.

But it was all VERY relivant and made us hundreds of thousands more dollars than if we just threw something up and hoped it worked, then randomly changed it.

We knew exactly what was going on... colors, days of the week... everything.

Exactly! And this was fed into a database so messaging decisions can be made quickly to maximize ROI.

as you can tell, there's a lot of subjective guessing and hunches that go in to paysite design. What may work one day may not work the other day. AMP has some ideas: http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showth...hreadid=204508 But these ideas vary from designer to designer and are encumbered by too many contingencies.

This thread is about using science to minimize guesswork and reliance on designers per say and let the statistics itself redraw the paysite.

I hope a programmer or paysite owner is reading this thread. Whoever can nail it down will become a BILLIONAIRE. I am almost certain.

It needs to be amultisite effort though.
We had 1 BILLION ad impressions a month. So we had a lot of traffic to work with.

Either you would need to collaborate with a huge paysite to do this, or make a multiproject type site where many companies could say contribute to a database somehow.

$5... make a site like this and YOU will be the millionaire.
