Help !!! - I've been hacked or something?
It seems many people are getting fake emails from "[email protected]" ...
How the hell is that possible? The only thing I know is if I turn off the SMTP server the bounced emails stop. Can anyone recommend an email host/supplier that can handle all my email and security upgrades and stuff. Like - can I not just point my email server to a good company? Help with this will never be forgotten. |

And if they can send email as "[email protected]" ...
can they retrieve my passwords too? Like this is fucking crazy ... My solution is just switch servers completely ... Suppliers too ... even though - RackShack.net (ev1.com) rocks. Change up the DNS and the OS causing the problem. The master blogger has been blogged. lol Suggestions? |

Read the headers of the email and find out where they are coming from originally , if they arent very clever you might be able to find them, but chances are they are using proxies and you will have a hard time tracking them down. |

it's just a forged recip, i wouldn't worry.
i got a ton of emails in my box from MAILER_DAEMON one day with a spam message in them. i loved it, i called my ISP just to let them know it wasn't me, but after that nothing else happened.

You know, the cute thing about a "Joe Job" is that you can't stop the deluge of bounces, they'll keep hitting that email address until the spam run is over and for days later.
The only way to stop it is to stop the mail server accepting any email for the affected address... even if you route the mail to /dev/null the mail server still has to deal with the mail in the first place |
