DMOZ PageRank tip (cheat)

Hey,

Posted this on few other boards, but not everybody reads them all so here it goes again. Btw, forgive me if this is old news and has been discussed before.

I saw a guy posting SEO tips and thought I would contribute.

I don't like dmoz cause most editors that organize adult categories are biased, list their own sites but refuse others for no reason except to dominate the category and keep competition down. Well can't really blame them, but it's not fair or by the rules.

Ok, now the tip:
1.) Find a god forsaken non-adult category (part of dmoz) with very few number of sites listed and make a quick clean site on the topic. For example make a site about retired firefighters from Ohio or something
2.) You should have no problem getting that site listed in dmoz
3.) after it's listed wait for a few days just in case
4.) do a 301 redirect from your firefighters page to your porn
5.) voila on next google directory update you have high PR

dmoz cheaters.. If you can't beat them, join them.

ppl, submit your sites to my porn search engine below.

Cheers,
Darko

How sad... If you create a QUALITY site you can get listed in DMOZ without prejudice.

PS: Editors do frequently review the sites in their categories, so your trick will work for no more than 2-3 months in most categories.

The people that add editors to DMOZ are so strange. There are tons of categories without editors, yet when you apply to one they deny you? And they don't even give a good reason? WTF!

For the record, I used to be an editor, but gave it up because I didn't have time for it anymore, but I've had several friends declined for categories that had no editors at all. That's just weird, weird, weird. No wonder it takes so long to get sites listed if they don't want editors. ??

I just put a new site online on Saturday and it was listed in DMOZ by the middle of Monday morning. I didn't even submit it. Needless to say, I was astounded.

Of course, it helps that I did get it listed on a site that (it looks like) the DMOZ editor for my category relies on in finding new sites to list. ;-)

Juicylinks here

You may be an honest editor, but don't you think it's possible that some ppl sign up (and get in) as editors for primary reason being to boost their sites?

This really pisses me off, what the fuck do you want? I just told you ppl what works, it's up to you what you do with the info. Who the fuck are you to pass judgement on me, you don't know me. For the record I never even bother signing up with dmoz, tried couple of times, didn't work. My sites are clean, I don't spam, I don't cheat (or even if I did, dmoz sure wouldn't see it). The categories I tried to get in under were on topic but still I never got in.

blow me, see if I ever give you a tip again

Darko

Telling people to submit to a non-adult category and later redirect to a porn site makes you a total fuck-wad, so don't start getting all defensive now.

make me a terrorist and a child molestor, why don't you? what's wrong with you people? did I somehow offend you by expressing my oppinion about dmoz? Or did you get the impression that I'm saying cheating is good?

There's an exploit right there for ppl to know and dmoz to fix. end of the story

I applied as an editor some time back..
Got declined because.. as they said.. They felt I was just applying in order to list my own sites...

I didn't even have any sites at the time...

Not quite sure where their logic lies..

you see.. they denied you for the exact same reason I stated above. That means they must have had problems with such editors and are trying to fix. I rest my case.

CdSmith,

Agreed. I was refering to cheating editors, you're refering to cheating webmasters who are trying to get listed. In the end both are ruining a service (dmoz) built on a wonderful theory, gone bad in practice.

I have submitted CAMCHICKS.COM to the appropriate category/s on DMOZ several times, without success. Use their feedback form to try and contact editors. No response. It's really frustrating.
I even volunteered to edit the camgirl-related categorys myself, since noone else is doing it. (closest editor is way up the chain) Again, no response.

What you will see is fake PR, its even more fun to take a dead domain and do a redirect to cnn.com.
This technique gets you no more traffic from google though as its fake Page rank where this does become scary is when your trading links based on the Pr of a site.

Also getting listed in Dmoz is the hard part, lots of catergorys you will wait over 6 months now and thats just for them to have a look.

Due to the current credit card scrubbing for adult I would say that if your sending non adult PR to an adult domain your a complete moron, there are fist's more $$$ to be made in non adult.

I have over 400 listings in Dmoz, and I am NOT an editor there ;p

just consider the business error you are running into: you could make a lot more out of the regular site.

i wont comment the ethic aspect, fortunately most people have a sense for business and wont try loosing money by posting porn sites into firefighter categories unless its a gay hairy firefighter porn site

Dude you're promoting a technique which involves people (inevitably including children!) clicking on a link to a "firefighters page" and ending-up on a hardcore pornsite. Well go fuck yourself! It's people like you that give our industry a bad name!

Bitch, bitch, bitch. People piss and moan about DMOZ and DMOZ editors all the time and it's all bullshit. If you spent one day editing there you'd understand why it takes forever to get listed and why you sometimes don't get listed at all.
