Sleazy, I do see what you mean about being associated with something that you haven't chosen to represent. That part of it sucks. It may be nice of management here if they could put a little dislaimer at the top of the main login page, something like "ADS advertisements appear throughout the forums, but are not neccessarily associated with any of the posters here" or something like that.

I'm not a big fan of the new advertising, either, but I can see how it would be profitable if people don't put their traffic where their mouth is and actually refuse to contribute to the board unless this new advertising is changed to suit our tastes.

In my opinion the ADS ads are way too extreme. The "brand" GoFuckYourself gets destroyed this way.
And I think that the other sponsors aren't very happy about this.
I wouldn't want to pay $3000 for a top banner on the ADS board!

You can't check your email on AOL without ads plastered all over it or a better example, Yahoo email... everytime you reply to someone, their signature has an ad for something you may or may not support. Ads have been on services/sites/utilities since day one. There's ads on every ISP and in places that we never had any control over, whether we liked them there or not... what makes this dialer button/banners sooo much different? :eek7

There's ads for Honda's on the sides of buses... I'm not crazy about Honda's but I wouldn't start beating the hell out of the bus driver for having it there or not want to use the bus service because of it. (I've never been on a bus in my life, just an example LOL)
