Iraq has been a major disaster.

This will really help opposing countries less fear US might.

It was the mistake so many GFY members predicted in a thread that was started before the invasion began.

yea predictions like how the republican national guard was the most toughest group in the world. Then after the usa cut them to pieces in a week, the spin was, well they were outmatched and had antiquated equipment.

Heres a good analogy, remember the riots in LA after the rodney king thing. Who was it that was looting and commiting violent acts , and turnint their coummunity to shit. It was gangbangers and low lifes. Not the majority, who are decent law abiding people.

Using the thought process of those on the ultra left, then all black people are bad.

GWB doesn't have an end-game

His troops are fatigued and he can't replace them.

The economy has yet to hit bottom. The media is spinning but the economy is heading into a hard winter.

His only hope is to get Ben Ladin.

hmm.. well, in some ways yes, in some ways no.

Clinton was very good about actually travelling around the world and visiting these other countries. As was Gore, in fact Gore's biggest victory, and pretty much unreported in the news (which is a good argument against the cliam that the media is run by liberals) is that Gore did wonderful things when visiting Russia, Ireland, Germany and many Asian countries.

Then again, Clinton did cut military spending and that caused a slowdown in the development of the biggest and the best military equipment to make the job of the american soldier easy and safe.

That being said.. Bush hardly travelled at all, and when he did he was not very personable to foreign leaders. An exception is the dude from Africa, they got along very well and have made a lot of progress in solving some of the civil war issues in the continent.

But, Bush did up military spending and now new vehicles are being shipped over (heavy armor HummVee and Stryker, for example) that will protect the solders from ambush and give them more tools to do their job of rebuilding Iraq.

Fuck the haters.. know the facts, know your history and think before you talk.

Clinton also was instrumental in bringing peace to Ireland, he got the Israelis and Palistineans to come to the negotiating table, and he kept Osama and Hussein under control without bloodshed.

Only redneck unibrow types like Rooster, Rush Limbaugh fans and other lackwit conservatives don't know this.

According to what I've read, draft boards are again forming and are actively recruiting people to assist in selecting draftees.

If Bush wins in 2004, don't be surprised if the draft returns...it will likely be called something different like Civil Service or whatever, but it will be the "draft" nevertheless.

Not sure which candidate is the lesser of two evils...

* Dean who wants to raise taxes skyhigh, but wants no war
* Bush who wants less taxes, but wants to fight World War III

...sometimes I wonder why bother voting...just let the U.S. Supreme Court pick the winner

I always say that there's nothing wrong with high taxes.. IF (and this is a big if), the people paying those taxes see a benefit from it, ie, there is an appreciable increase in their standard of living.

Unfortunately, that is rarely the case.. the added revenue from taxes always seems to get eaten up in administrative costs to initiate the processing of higher taxes and beaurocracy.

ugh.. it's still the greatest country in the universe.

Turkey did not "refuse" to send troops, the Iraqi governing council did NOT want turkish troops to enter Iraq, so they did not come.

That would be the second chopper crash this week.

Northern Iraq feared that the Turks would try a land grab when the "war" was actually offically "on". So of course they dont want Turkish forces entering Iraq. They think that they will not leave.

http://edition.cnn.com/2003/WORLD/me...ops/index.html

" ISTANBUL, Turkey (CNN) -- Turkey won't send troops to neighboring Iraq to help U.S. forces -- at least not in the near future, a source with the Turkish Foreign Ministry said Friday.

The reaction comes after the Foreign Ministry announced Friday that it will review parliament's decision last month to authorize the deployment of Turkish troops in Iraq.

Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul discussed the issue by phone Thursday with U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell.

There has been strong opposition in Iraq to a troop deployment by some neighboring countries.

There have been ongoing conflicts between Turkey and Kurds, who live in southeast Turkey and northern Iraq.

Turkey particularly is concerned over any Kurdish secessionist aspirations" (yeah right)

the economy is perking up nicely.

I think something people dont realize is how close this country was to a total depression. Things were already coming down from the dot com bomb and book cooking scandals, then 911 happens and pretty much destroyed the airline industry among other things.

I just dont think people can see beyond the tip of their nose. Everything they want about Clinton era is a total mirage.

The economy was built on great business models like pets.com and furniture.com and tons of accounting scandals.

Foreign Policy .... The head in the sand approach. Do nothing, let Al Quada build their infrastructure strong and look the other way as terroist attacks happen. Cut a sweetheart deal with North Korea.

Whether people like it or not, gwb will be re-elected. The only way he would lose is if a conservative independent was in the mix to take votes away. Howard Dean is the lefts equivilent of Rush Limbaugh, and as the election gets closer more and more people are going to be turned off by him.

Eight years of peace and prosperity under Clinton was real.

Three years of war and bad economy under Bush are real.

letting al quada build its infrastructure nice and strong unchecked, bombing of usa embassys in africa, bombing of uss cole, planning of 911.

It wasnt peace in prosperity, it was ignorance, putting head in sand and hoping problems go away.
