What to do with garbage traffic?

So I bought 10k casino hits and about 3000 have come so far and I've gotten NOT ONE click through to my listings. There's gotta be some way to turn this around, use a traffic exchange or something.

Do you have server-side stats? Do the loads show a referer? Who did you buy from? |

Yeah I bought 12,000 clicks once. I think it was hitbot as not a SINGLE one did anything.

1 3600 60.49% http://www.statonly.com/server/ is the referer, and that's the server their stats login page is on. Quote:

		 Hi Cluck,

If you could tell when and what campaign you bought then I can try to look it up in our log files. We are running thousands of campaigns every month from pop-unders, banner campaigns, slide-in ads, etc. One thing I see again and again is the design, copy and content on any banner or campaign page is KING. Our traffic is real traffic. Displayed on real websites that are visited by real visitors. We audit our traffic all the time and I can assure you that we do find publishers using "funny" methods to display advertisements. These publishers are bound to have their accounts terminated very quickly. Unfortunately this is an ongoing game where publishers try to earn a few extra bucks using all the "well known" tricks that we all know too well. And more importantly know how to spot very quickly. Any traffic exchange, banner exchange, publisher network and the like have these problems and while I don't know what others are doing about it I can assure you that PerfectTraffic.com allocate resources 24/7/360 to find any irregularities. When this is said then we have all the good publishers left and then it is a matter of having the best design. We have collected thousands of banners and we know the CTR on each and every one. We are amazed how different CTR can be on such banners. Some extremely nice banners that cost a fortune to produce gets nothing while simple banners made in a rush sometimes receive very high CTR. All this boils down to the traffic network you are using (and PerfectTraffic is a dam good choice), the creative (design, copy and content) and finally the general interest in the market where you target your advert. It?s still much easier to get the attention when you sell Viagra compared to Grand Pianos in the $25,000 range. So my offer to you is to either contact us directly and express your concerns or let me know through this board the details and I will investigate and provide you with our findings. Sincerely, Allan PerfectTraffic.com |

		 <if<b></b>rame src="http://www.yoursite.com/" width=0 height=0>

That's a real visitor loading your site (including images). They'll never see it, of course... Not suggesting that perfecttraffic do it this way, but that is/was a common way to deliver fraudulent traffic to buyers. Another way is to have the if<b></b>rame point to a 404 page, which redirects to the buyer. |

This code should defeat the hidden frame trick - it checks if you're part of a frame, and if so loads your site into the top frame.

<script language="Ja<b></b>vaSc<b></b>ript"> <!-- if (parent.frames.length > 0) { parent.location.href = location.href; } --> </script> You may also want to try some tricky Ja<b></b>vascr<b></b>ipt that does some calculations and submits the result to a script on your site, to ensure that it's not some sort of hitbot. (These are just generic comments of course, and apply to any traffic buyer who is having no luck with their purchase) |

Yes, these are a few of the trick to find FRAUDULENT traffic especially your tip about JS calculations to make sure it's not a hitbot. But again there are easy ways around those measures and many ?wannabe? publishers also use them.

In fact there are so many tricks out there that we could be fooled if we did not log all publisher sites and the advert that was displayed. By taking all publisher sites in the same category and compare click through on the same ad then we can compile a profile on all active ads and publisher pages in our network. Any "wannabe" publisher would never know this profile and therefore they jump into the water all the time. This test and all the other tests + the ones you suggested plus tests for proxy IP# and so on is done all the time. That kind of keeps us busy. By the end of the day we hope fully provide high quality that have a potential to convert. That is if the advert itself makes sufficient appeal to the public. Allan PerfectTraffic.com |
