Buy a small lot of refurbished monitors, pdas or printers for $1000-2000 and resell on ebay. Put the rest on tax liens.

For just 1 year.. Assuming its just some extra cash I would add to an existing stock portfolio. Maybe use it on a few stocks that seemed to risky before.

Shit, my bills would be paid and I'd be sending my husband to Germany for the summer to immerse himself in the language. It'll help with his 2nd major: German.
If I HAD to invest it, I'd go looking for the best mutual funds in terms of track record. Get a GOOD financial advisor to help with this, and diversify among slow growth/low risk, medium growth/risk, high yield/high risk funds. That should start you out nicely, and the interst from them can be re-invested every year to help your porfolio grow, thus earning you more money for the long-term. |

Mutual funds are for Pussies. If you're young you should be taking educated risks. Find a product or service you think has great potential for exponential growth and invest in those companies. Do not let some dumb dick fund mangager convince you it is great to get a 13% return.

XM is looking pretty sweet. When I found out about it through a friend it was early this year, if an investment was made that looks like an easy 5x-8x growth. Of course that requires foresight and all of that plus some luck. But still it is nice to see companies.

First if I had any credit card debt, I'd pay that off. If I thought I might have some ongoing CC debt over the next year, I'd probably keep the money in an interest-bearing checking account so I could easily pay off CC debt in the future. (Even though the interest rate is probably around 1%).
If that's not an issue, then I'd look for a no-load index fund with an expense ratio under 0.35%. If you're only investing for a year, you've got to make sure you're not going to be zapped for a 3% commission when you buy or sell the fund. (Front end or back end fees.) The fees aren't as significant if you plan to hold the investment for a few years, but for one year that's a big percentage of your expected gain. |

Probably just re-invest it into the business or other investments.

I have that amount and decided to put it into my first paysite.
This is how I'm breaking down my spending: $2,500 in new content, mostly video $1,500 to hire a lawyer to go through my site and make sure my site is ok to launch and my documents are in order. $750 visa fee $500 for traffic to test it on a soft launch before I really push it. I designed it myself to save money. Hope I'm making the right decision long term |

Unless you're launching some scat, beast, or pissing related paysite, you paid too much for a lawyer IMO.

The advice and contracts I get I can use forever if/when I do more sites. I've haven't even gotten started with him yet and I've already gotten some great advice on things I planned on doing that could have gotten me into trouble. I see things now on tours that are insane and I just shake my head at them. Plus its a tax deduction, it's not exactly throwing my money into a fireplace. call me a nerd, but this is a risky business, you should have a good lawyer to go over your shit before put it out there. |
