Duped by Reality Show, Contestants Sue
Six men who appeared as contestants on a British reality show have hired attorneys to sue the producers and attempt to block Sky broadcasting from putting it on the air. The contestants, who are seen unwittingly kissing and caressing a transsexual male, reportedly plan to accuse the producers of conspiracy to commit sexual assault, defamation, breach of contract and personal injury. According to Britain's Guardian newspaper, lawyers have told Sky that unless the show, titled There's Something About Miriam, is canceled by the end of today (Friday), they will take court action. I read an article a couple of months ago (I forget the source) that went into detail about these reality shows. They pointed out that the initial excitement from Survivor and Big Brother have worn off. And with the sudden surge of reality shows the producers would have to get more and more outlandish to keep the desensitized public happy.
They predicted things would get so crazy that eventualy the "reality kick" would kill itself out. It looks like they were right. They are pushing the edge a bit to far now to draw viewers and its starting to backfire. I am going to try and find the source of that article it was pretty good.
