backup help needed
i've been looking for some sort of backup solution recently for my home pc's. has anyone got any advice?
i've got 2 pc's and 1 laptop networked on a 4 port broadband router. what i would want ideally, would be something that could back-up any or all of my pc's preferably without too much unplugging of leads, and ideally something that would do the job automatically say once per day. i've got no experience of backing up at all. has anyone got any suggestions for a cost effective solution, other than writing data to cd's? i've looked at external harddrives which seem to look ok, are these recomended? i don't want to pay more than about $250 if i can help it. thanks in advance |

I've used CDs and DVDs, but they are slow and small capacity and I don't trust them.
Go with an extrenal hard drive. You can get the LaCie disks pretty cheap if you look around: http://www.lacie.com/products/family.htm?id=10007 Other people here will have other suggestions once they wake up. ![]() |

There are sevral "smart" backup programs around, in combination with a big hard drive it should be a good solution
