Google Planning To Go Public In March - $15 Billion Valuation

Google Inc., owner of the world's most-used Internet search engine, is planning an initial public offering that may value the company at more than $15 billion, the Financial Times reported.

The California-based company has started talking to investment bankers about an IPO that would take place by March, the FT reported.

Nice!

They just sealed a deal with Primedia to buy sprinks/about guides and distribute listings to primedia's web magazines.

What search engine is going to make it rapidly to number two?

They are planning some kind of online share auction of IPO shares... sounds cool... they might drop also investment banks... and cut underwriting fees at least partly.

Cool, but very very very scaring thing - going markets. They will loose their track - hopefully not, but...

SE companies that aimed for relevancy first have typically not done that well once they went public, like Altavista, Inktomi. Companies that aimed for profit first (like Overture) have done well, but its a struggle between relevancy and profit and when you're public it seems profit becomes the goal and I fear that will make Google lose its ground.

Google fuckin rocks! That is one shit hot company based on the idea of QUALITY.

Just when people thought search engines had become all they could be, Google was innovative and came out with a better system that produced a better quality product.

Good on them! I hope they all become billionaires

The most interesting thing about Google going public would be getting to see how much their revenues are. I know I'm curious.
