Here in Banff, lake louise opens Nov 7th, sunshine Nov 14th.

further away, Whistler is all fucked up due to flooding. apparently two people died...

I have yet to ride Whistler even though I lived in Seattle all my life, I hit the "slopes" here in Cali last year. Let me tell what a fucking joke this place is. They call their hill a mountain..

I'll be riding my K2, always been partial to them.

Damn, I'm not sure whether to get step ins this year or soft boots. I usualy ride with step ins but the new C16 bindings look fucking hot they would go perfect with SL-6 boots

What do you Brands do you guys recommend for step ins? All my boards have the K2 Rachet system. It's a pain in the ass really.

The cool thing about Stevens is it's so close, 30 min drive from where I lived.

The thing I hear about Whistler is the Runs are much longer, 10 mins long downhill? I could be wrong but that's what I heard. I'm used to the 5 mins up the mountain, 30 secs down ..

I have burton step ins right now and love how easy they are to use, but I think I'll try the regular bindings this year for better response, although I haven't made up my mind yet.... If I was to go with step ins I would go with Burton PSI step ins and Heaven SI boots

i tried stepin's one year, but had to back to soft boots. just don't feel as good, or as hooked up (imho). of course i've been riding since 1989, so maybe you just can't teach an old dog new tricks ;)

the C16's are fucking bad ass. i came close to getting them instead of the P1's tonight. but i like how the P1 bindings and Ion boots feel together. i've tried on absolutely everything burton this year.

It only happend once to me in past 4 years with step ins and it was my fault, but I hear your point. The only thing is I'm in love with the c-16 bindings and the sl-6 boots so I might just switch to regular soft boots and bindings this year.

the closest place for me would be "bluewood".. but they had no snow last year...so we do the 2.5 hour drive to ranier...or we could go on the other side and do "mission ridge" in leavenworth.

I love that there are so many places in the tri-states .. even if it s a few hour drive..

i need the short runs..my legs get exhausted riding all day.. i would maybe get in two runs at whistler..

runs are very long. only thing i don't like about Whistler is it gets seriously crowded during holidays, or any one of there almost never ending festivals or competitions, etc.

a new place pretty close to me (about an hour away) kicking horse, has a 10 KM run. they have the second most vertical in all of N.A. (whister being the first).

Sunshine, which is about 5 minutes from Banff, has an 8 KM run, but the entire run is only completely open for maybe half the season.

This is right underneath "Once is enough" over to the right is "The Heart Chute" where my ski buddy Glenn Plake (The skier w/mohawk) fell 200 feet onto the rocks and broke his femur.

Sugar Bowl California... where the first snowboarder was ever let on a ski lift. I was in that group.

not to mention the most crowded...
I grew up in Mt. Shasta, best snow on the west coast, mostly locals. I've been riding since I was a kid, but never anything that wasn't a burton. btw, step ins are for groms, lazy people who don't really know how to ride, and guys going through their midlife crisis that think snowboarding will make them cool. soft boots offer the best board control.

A bunch of my neighbors love Sugar Bowl, it's only an hour from my house, although I've never been to it.
