It is my business when code that I paid for is stolen and modified to not send me payment (the 1% it takes). Because I am in position to do something about being ripped off, soooo many people call me a jerk. What ever. Every damned one of you would do the exact same thing if you were in my position. You would do whatever it takes to protect your investment. Just like a content provider takes action against someone who uses his content without paying for it. Everyone knows this code is ripped from TTT, even the "thief" himself admitted it. I don't rip off or cheat anyone, EVER. To expect the same from others is NOT ASKING too much. Now is it?

This would be very expensive to do. It is cheaper to blacklist the tgps. Then contact the hosts. If the host do not cooperate then the upstream providers. If that fails then c&d's and lawyers.

Good luck with it man.I know coding a script can cost thousands of dollars and somebody rips you off is bullshit.Hopefully the hosts will be understanding and pull the offenders.

Yep I'm glad you brought this up. I do not want to bump heads with any hosts. I don't want to have to deal with this issue at all. But I have to. I am hoping every host that has this stolen script on it's servers will take action. If not I have no choice but to go to their upstreams, I really do not want to do this. And if that fails and lawyers have to be involved, then naturally I will have to seek damages. Which can be easily calculated. I DO NOT WANT TO DO THIS. You know what is right JayJay.

if what this guy did does not affect the hosting company then why is it their problem? just because u "lost" money why should they take the chance of losing a loyal paying customer? "You would do whatever it takes to protect your investment." the hosting company is trying to protect their investment and income.

i can see both sides choker and both make alot of sense. very grey issue with the hosting though. is it fair for u to put them in the middle of your problem?

Using your argument then this host would be a safe haven for anyone stealing content also. It is the host problem if someone has illegal content on their servers. Upload stolen content to their servers, run a "Zapster" type site on their servers, etc,etc. Read any upstreams TOS and see what it says about illegal content. you make good points but in the end the host is legally liable for what is on his servers, especially after he is given legal notice of copyright violation on his server. After this legal notice then he can become a party to a lawsuit and thus held liable for any damages awarded. I do not think it will ever come to this, but if I have to put forward funds for a attorney, then I have to recoup them somehow. 99% of the sites using this stolen script are very small and running questionable content on their sites anyway. I doubt very seriously if any of these sites owners are even full time in this business.

the *thiefs* host is going to lose money. are you going to compensate him somehow? it sucks in your situation and i completly understand your defense. however i find it very unfair that you even asked his host to do something that makes him lose money. you need to find a way to get at this guy without anyone else losing money... you already lost money because of this guy... do you want others to lose out as well?

On a lighter note, all you guys that are voting for JayJay to tell me to GFY, post your site urls here. I will copy your sites to the letter, content, graphics, everything. I will then pass "your" site off as my own, using your content,graphics everything. Then you can see how it feels when someone rips off what you put your sweat and blood into.

On the same token, a content provider tells this host that his customer has stolen content on his server. Is this content provider going to compensate the host? There is no difference between using stolen content and stolen code. Valid points but WHY DO so many people apply different standards when I am involved? Of course I agree. The host should not loose a customer over this. And besides most likely we are talking about a $20 a month account here. I have seen very few TGPs over 5k a day that are using this stolen script. We are not talking dedicated boxes here.

im not acting difference against you as i would anyone else. i dont know you. i dont know anyone you have *fought* against. i know you sell traffic. period. any opinion i have said here has nothing to do with who anyone is. its just my opinion.

as for content. ill give you the same answer. in either situation i dont think the host should lose a customer. there has to be other means of removing what is stolen.

yes I understand, but if someone ripped your site, graphics, content, etc what would you do? You would not contact his host then his hosts upstream? if someone ripped your stuff then that means that host has illegal content on his server? yes?

make a bot that submits all kinds of fake galleries to his website. mailbomb him. spam his website. report it to spamcop... basically just annoy him until he removes the script.. but thats just what i'd do.

should the hosting company be happy that u informed them of this shit going on on their servers? absolutely. if i were a host would i want to know? yup. do i want to get a rep for allowing questionable shit on my servers? so now its just a stolen script whats next from this guy. is this the type of customer i want to do business with. how long till he trys to rip me off. do reputable companies question doing business with me because of the type of clients i allow.

like i said b4 choker i got nothing against u what so ever. if i were in yer shoes i would inform the host of the activity and thats it i wouldnt ask or demand anything from them. their decision needs to come from what they feel is the right thing to do. if you dont agree with it, choose not to business with them. and continue on your path to rectifying the situation.
