At work, i have a win2000 machine. Since I upgraded to WM 9, every time I open a windows media file, as soon as it starts playing my machine freezes.
I can hear the audio, but everything else is blank and the machine is totally unresponsive. Ctl-alt-delete does nothing. I have to power cycle the machine to get things back to normal. either. I tried downgrading to WM 4 and WM 7.1, but now they don't work. I poured over the windows help center to no effect. Does anyone have any tips beyond Format c: ? |

I have a similiar problem with windows XP. I cannot listen to any live feeds like the adult webmaster radio shows. It buffers, it loads and then it crashes every single time. Same with Real Player too. On my laptop with windows 2000, it all works fine but not with XP. Go figure, it drives me nuts that I have to use my laptop to listen to audio feeds!

stick to wmp8 and just get the wmp9 codecs. Problem solved. DO a system rollback if you can to a point before wmp9

actualy, downlaod every video codec out there and set Winamp as default player for all media. That's what I did. Never been happier
