Imports are the only way to go. American if you don't mind your transmission going out at 90k miles, and the interior of your car completely disintegrating in three years.

I drive a '92 Honda Civic and the thing has 205k miles, and runs exactly the same as when I bought it at 112k. Virtually zero problems, ever.

I was talking to my mechanic about engine longetivity, and I asked him how long I could expect my engine to last if I continue to drive it like a Formula 1 car. He said the engine will NEVER have a problem, and the only thing I have to worry about is the rest of the car eventually disintegrating... but never the engine. Interesting stuff.

I was in England for a while and I must say it was hard with the backwards car. I am for cars that don't have right side driver seats.

I feel it's important to buy American and support our economy. We already got enough jobs heading overseas, no need to buy japanese cars when the US cars are just as reliable nowadays.

it's really not the case anymore. maybe in the 70's and 80's, but not these days. imports and domestics are pretty much on an even playing field for reliability.

i've seen more than enough import cars bite the dust. and i've owned american cars (even older ones) that simply would not die. the car looked like shit, but the interior was in perfect condition, and _always_ started, unless i left the lights on. i hated that car, because it wouldn't die (it was my first car... junker).

i even saw a civic that recently blew a connecting rod out the side of the block. that's hard to do.

either way, it's more preference of the vehicle.
