Indian boy becomes world?s youngest web designer

He is just five years old. But Ajay Puri of Lucknow has earned the distinction of having become the youngest computer web designer in the world.

With the feat firmly under his belt, the Class-II student, who designed his website, www.microsfotkid.com, has entered the Limca Book of Records.

The talented boy recently met Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates. After the meeting, Gates is reported to have remarked: "Ajay! You are going to take my seat."

Last month, he took the Silicon Valley by surprise by passing the Microsoft "MOUS" examination, securing 98 per cent marks. An exam, which people five times his age find it difficult to pass.

His score of 98 is said to be the highest in the world so far. Ajay has thus become the youngest specialist Microsoft Office user in the world.

Though he belongs to Lucknow at present his parents work in Bangkok, where he studies at Harrow International School.

CNN has already featured him. Now, the BBC and the CNBC are planning to make more features on this computer wiz kid.

In recognition of his amazing talent, Microsoft Thailand recently gifted him FrontPage 2000 for making a website.

He can create a website with all hyper links, thumbnails, background music, frames, DHTML, Forums etc.

Geez that's something. But how does a 5 year old get that smart?

no way that kid passed a "MOUS" exame - Cant be done.
A child developes his own "self" around 3, and its not possible to learn 2 languages (his own + english) + the computer relatet knowledge he has to learn before passing the "MOUS" exame.

i think its possible to do this computer shit with 5years.no problem..my daughter which is 3years old can start the pc aswell. She opens winamp and play music, then she is able to open notepad or microsoft word and write her name or other things like dady or so. she is painting houses, pets and so on on paint in windows.....then she goes to ebay and other sites and visits some auctions of pets and playtools..where is the problem ? I am sure she will be able to generate internet sites in html or frontpage..where is the problem? its not difficult. But to write such sentences like the boy did in his suggestions for the kids, its not possible with 5years...

The website sucks. I don't believe in patronizing kids and telling them something is really really good when it sucks just because they're kids. I emailed Ajay Puni and told him the website was a disgrace to his parents, Allah and most importantly to himself and to get back to playing with his Osama bin Laden action figures and his magic carpet riding lessons.

I don't think i was being unfair to the boy.

The other day I was looking into studying to be a primary school teacher (hey, a gal has to keep her options open in this climate). I was reading through the British nataional cirriculm for the primary ages (which is 7-11..so elementry school). In their technology portion they are teaching 7 years olds to design basic webpages. So, in theory every British kid is going to know how to design a basic page by the time they get to middle school. I see a flooded job market in the future.
