strato 10-13-2003 07:36 PM

Gotta specialize in the US as well. I believe emergancy room trauma takes a 4 year residency while general practice only takes a year or so, brain surgery takes 475 years from what I can tell....they are all so damn old :Graucho

One of my sister's ex University roomies (they are still friends) is serving a five year residency and I believe she will be a neuro surgeon. She did some modeling when she was in University and had a few bit parts on TV shows from time to time. A good looking "blond" neuro surgeon????

That would be a definate "keeper" and five years sounds about right, tough program though!!! Sorry to hear about your injuries, must suck bad......I know when I got out I was lost for damn near a year before I got my shit back together......so much changed while I was in, and there was no such thing as privacy like I had remembered

It's tough to get onto a lot of the training schemes for specialties, places are so limited (you don't wanna train too many competitors :)).. The selections are also very political, personality based etc. What puts me off the most is just how you have to dedicate the extra 6 years of training to your work at the expense of nearly everything else. It's not a sacrifice I'm prepared to make at the moment.

strato 10-13-2003 07:55 PM

I know at University of Cincinnati they paid the residents 42,000 a year:( But they had to be some of the sharpest doctors I have veer had the pleasure of working with. They actually had to fly on the helicopter for the last 2 years. And they knew how to party as well :)

There is a little more about my sister's friend. When she got out of Univeristy she could not get into med school in the states (I am not clear on the reasons why). Her mother or father was a Polish citizen and she got into a med school in Poland and trained...I think...for a year. She was then accepted into med school in the states...but I think her year of training in Poland did not count.

Your damn skippy we do, but it is now and always has been a lopsided deal for the US. We have now and for at least the last 30 years have had a huge trade deficit......just another fact for you.....

Yeah...I was pretty lost too. I bummed around University for a few years...before I really got over being a "civilian". I still miss military life.

I got out in '97 with 16 years active and finished up in the reserves, I am happy.....just got my 20 year letter enough retirement points to retire this year. Took the Bum deal though, the 18 year retirement plan. Not too much but I get it now :)

<b>Saddam was never a U.S. ally. If every thing that all of the haters and bashers said were the factual truth...it is immaterial...as the US will continue to do...what it has always done...and that is...it will do what it percieves to be in its best interest...and if it makes mistakes (which I beleive that it has made mistakes)...so be it...and if there are unforseen...and/or unfornunate consequences...so be it. That is the way that it is and that is the way that it will be for the forseeable future...and the world will be forced to live with it. Yes, Iraq WAS a US Ally.

And you just proved my point. US(like any other government) only wants what's in his best interest). Saddam right now wasn't, so they wanted him out. Iran wasn't in the 80s, so they was pro-Saddam.

I'm off to bed not. I'll be back tomorrow(probably)

Iraq was never a US ally and the US was not pro Saddam during the Iran/Iraq war. The US assisted both Iran and Iraq as the US did not want a winner...or a loser in that war.

Bigdaddyhgh 10-13-2003 09:07 PM

The USA is the subject of attack from "Islam" due to the belief among some muslims that anything that ditracts from Allah is the devil.
Our policies and culture are so offensive because we support

1 Jews (thier sworn enemies).
2 Have tried and succeded in bringing commerce to the middle east the byproduct of wich is western culture (teaching women and children to wriite drive and enjjy modern ameniteies).
It is true that our policy has many flaws the bush and ashhahahahaha policies are way too invasive and in general we are losing our civil liberties in a scary whirlwind of rhetoric.
There has always been a price for freedom nations have been built and they have falled. Nevr thoug throughout history has such a young nation lived and thrived like we have in the US even with our recent setbacks in civil liberties we are still have freedoms and the ability to have almost anything we can concieve. This board is full of proof of that!
If you live anywhere but the USA you only get half the picture as we in the USA have to dig deep to get the rest of the story.

The Arabs that dispise the USA have always been a hatefull sort thier culture is not one of joy and celebration. Humor is a low priority (ever hear of an middle eastern comedy club). The arab culture lends itself to taking charity and turning on thjier benefactors always has, There is an arab proverb that says just that (sorry i cannot remember it).
I know that personally I like european culture people and enjoy staying for as long as I can.

The opinion expressed by Webby turn me off I would like to ask you have you been hear? Where did you go was Clinton ok with you? Are you Muslim? and how did the US policy effect you and yours?
Also so Saddam and Gadhafi, Idi Iman, Chirac, Bin Laden are on the same level as Bush?

I dont get your rational unless you have been affected somehow that you have this bad taste in your mouth you dont seem to have any objectivity,,all in mho

(forgive the terrible grammer)

First... Saddam WAS an ally of the US and both that other arrogant US idiot Rumsfeld and Saddam gave each other hugs, not on one occasion, but several. Rumsfeld knows Saddam very well.

Same as Bush is well accqainted with the bin Ladens and rushed to deny this after 9/11. Osama Bin Laden was an active participant in the bin Laden family business two months prior to 9/11 and the US and Bush crime family traded very profitably with them.

Second... Since you claim Saddam was not an ally.. what the fuck was the guy given a key to Detriot for?? I'm sure he must have been welcomed there at some time?? DUH??

And.. as you correctly said.. the US will continue to do as it has always done - namely mess in everyone else's business and bribe and depose democractically elected governments, get involved and participate in terrorism, torture and killings of many innocent people. Ya don't have to look far - you got plenty of the torturers living in your midst and protected by a corrupt government. Alternatively, have a look at Chile - try going there and letting your stupid mouth loose and you'll get a bullet in the head - they have GOOD REASON to have a hatred of the US.

I have NO SYMPATHY left for an arrogant nation and, if you looked outside, you will see I share the same "opinions" as those of the majority of nations. The US is a ROGUE STATE due for regime change.

Now.. I ain't got time to waste talking crap with idiots who clearly have no sense or either know fuck all.

For once quit your stupid diatribe about "haters" and "bashers" and look at your own back yard... In case you never noticed, its' as trashy as your peanbrain. YOU HAVE NOTHING TO BE PROUD OR "PATRIOT" ABOUT UNLESS YOU ARE ALLIED TO SOME FOURTH REICH REGIME.

A hug does not an ally make. You apparently do not have an understanding of how our system works...the US has a regime change every two years for the House...every four-eight years for the executive branch and every six years for the Senate.

More crap and I don't give a fuck how "our system works" - just too perverse! It is claimed to be a "democracy" based on "values" and "freedoms" - hell.. that's a joke! SAD!!

Meanwhile.. when are ya gonna quit messing in everyone else's business and mind your fucking own?? I am sure some in the US would appreciate it and the rest of the world would.

Maybe it is more than the Admin that is the problem if you claim a regime change? When they quit lying and start cleaning up within this great country, instead of deviant, greedy, corrupt and terrorist behaviour with other nations, I might start showing some respect - Till then - get fucked.

I got NADA sympathy for the US - it has been coming for a LONG time - tis only a pity more folks will die and we'll all watch more paranoia and "why do they hate us?" cliches - shows how DUMB folks are. Military power and bombs?? Hell.. another indication of DUMB - bombs and military ain't gonna be your "defense"!

Saw a docementry today on swedish television. Some famous Iraq/swedish writer went down for the first time in 28 years to his home country..this was not long ago. Problem with bandits and things like that. When they interviewed an iraqish english teacher she said that womens nightmare was kiddnaped or raped. And all people hasn't this ohh yes Americans. One little girl got shot when she wanted to shake hand with an american soldier.

btw, I saw some young solidiers on the road with machine guns..you could hear them talking when they was about to leave..they really thought they was the shit.

the US was officially neutral.. but they didn't assist Iran and Iraq equally.. they clearly thought Iraq the lesser of two evils. When Bush Snr came into office they embarked on a policy of engaging Iraq diplomtically to try and get closer relations (see all those photos of Saddam and Rummsfeld)..
